How Do You Know If Mods Are Working?
I just installed True Storms and Darker Nights using nexus mod manager. But how can you tell if they are working? Will they now work only on the nexus mod manager launcher, or will they work no matter how i launch the game?

it has been a while since i have played a modded game, but i think you can get the mods to work through Steam launch, and that there is a subdivision in your options list when lauching the game that will show which mods are running.

If you use Nexus Mod Manager you'll see under the plugins text that if they're ticked, it means it's working. Also the more mods you download it'll be a good idea to use "F4SE" Fallout 4 Script Extender" otherwise you'll see a performance drop

It will work no matter how you start your game.
For True Storms, once enabled in NMM, it should prompt you for certain settings for you to choose.

OK thanks for the help. Ill just launch through steam from now on. And i might go and take a look at F4SE, i thought i noticed a small performance change.

you should be l;aunching it through nmm most mods will not work without this cause steam launch reverts certain scripts back to normal aka no extra meshs textures showing ect.

True Storms will have much more dramatic weather (eg loud thunderstorms) than the base game so you will definitely notice it. I don't know about Darker Nights as I don't use it.

If you want to know if darker nights works, wait/sleep until nighttime.
You'll know if it worked or not by then.

My plugins always become inactive unless I start launcher first, then launch nmm and check plugins, then launch game. Anytime I don't do it in this order plugins become inactive whether I make the ini file read only or not.

I think someone should mention that you Must add 2 lines to the Custom.ini folder to enable modding the game.

Pretty sure the F4SE doesn't do much at this time.
IIRC it's in its aplha state and because of the missing creating kit they can't to much.

Your normally well lit settlement will be a LOT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ darker all of a sudden, when compared to usual levels of illumination at the same time on Vanilla.
AKA 'Hey, i can barely see the other side of the street from this house, despite the 4 searchlights...'

That depends on what you set the mod to.

Yes, I had it set to medium and so couldnt tell whether it was always like that but i forgot or whether it was the mod.

In HIDDEN folder = " <your PC name>/AppData/Local/Fallout4" are 2 text documents. One is "DLCList.txt" This text document will list mods (esp, esm) that the game is currently recognizing/using. FO4 game manages this list automatically. Mods that only changed textures, etc will not show here.
