can't insert holotapes? Total Hack
So what is the point of the Total Hack Magazine perks? Because I have never come across a terminal with protectron/turret control that I can load holotapes into. the option just doesn't exist. is this a bug?

not all terminal, but most of it, also, you can only do it in main menu, the first menu when you turn on or finish heck the terminal
Rather than starting a new topic I thought I'd bump this one.

I just got 2 of the total hack magazines (Robots & Turrets)
I'm in Weston Water Treatment Plant, I'm looking at the facilities management computer.

There is no "Load Holotape" option & The computer says 10 turrets are connected & I can deactivate them.
But I can't get them to switch sides (Use the holotape).

Is this a bug or am I doing it wrong?

Your post got me interested in finding that out. I've been carrying around the one for spotlights in my current game and didn't notice a way to use it. I came across a video where "The Baked Oreo" explains how to use the turret one. There is a particular time you can load your tape, which you have to have with you. Look at this video at around 1:22. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eff3kAPnzuw
It's not really that useful. It's more to just add a bit more fun to hacking computers. You want turrets on your side as an added bonus to hacking this terminal? Then keep that holotape.
I've been googling around trying to find the answer & I've already looked at his video.
I don't get the option to load a holotape, on any of the screens on the computer.

On PC you push R to load a holotape, I've tried pressing R on all the computer menus etc
Not all terminals have the option - I'm not entirely sure why some do and some don't.
O_o

That's pretty ♥♥♥♥
Yeah, it' actually MOST terminals that control turrets DO NOT allow the hack. The only terminals that allow you to use the hack are specifically TURRET CONTROL TERMINALS. But, in the game, most of the terminals that control turrets have other stuff on them. And you can't use the hack on those.

It really is almost useless.
Some terminals (and and typical Bethesda fashion, the ones that would be MOST fun) don't have the Hack option

I would've loved to have hack all ten turrets in the treatment plant, but unfortunately, there's no option

Oh and the best part? 905 of the turret control terminals are *behind the turrets they control* and there are no alternate ways to get at them. So most of the time, by the time you get to a place where you *can* control them - you've already destroyed them.

lol yeah I've just kind of given up on trying to make use of hacking because of this... hopefully with creation kit, people can fix this so holotapes can load into any terminal.
so i read in a related thread that hacking a robot with the robotics perk can cause/fix this issue. it seems to work for me, but only inconsistently.

some of the threads i found for this date back over a year... i wonder if the unofficial patches have tackled it yet.
