Godrays Worth it?
Recently I downloaded a metric crap load of graphical enhancment mods, now with my 980ti I sometimes dip into the fourties and stutter depending on the situation. I know one of the biggest performance hogs are the godrays. I also have heard that there is some wierd pixelation around objects with anything but ultra godrays enable or godrays disabled. Due to this pixelation I've considered just turning godrays completely off. But I need a second opinion! Do you guys think I should live with the lower fps or just shut godrays off?

Pretty sure the 980ti is more than capable of handling the game on full-ultra, but are god-rays worth it?
To me, no.
To others? Probably for the aesthetics, I personally find them ugly.

Answer this, How much gametime do you spend looking directly into the sun?

Imo save the resources and download ENB instead. Much better trade off for a few fps.
Like the other 2 lads.... not for me either, they look great for a screenshot, but the pervasive haze they create is not worth the resources they eat.

I have them on LOW and it looks very nice when strolling through the city or woods on a sunny day.

Anything higher and I'd start seeing FPS drops, even through woods. With God Rays on LOW, I can enjoy them and not see any performance drop.

I have a 980 but i perfer godrays off.

There is virtually no difference between setting them to Low and setting them on the higher ones. You might as well keep them on low and not take the framerate hit.

Actually there is a very noticeable difference in resolution and quantity. Take a closer look.

I turned off godrays myself. Personally, the game looks way better without them. That horrible "washed out" look is gone and the game runs smoother. But this is just my opinion. You may not agree, but it is worth trying.

I'm also one of those who turns God Rays off. Looks better in my honest opinion.

my video card is at the bottom end of specs. i turned godrays off because i kinda need to if i dont want to live at 30 fps. played a whole lotta hours with them on and about 40 with them off. the fps increase is more enjoyable than having godrays.

I like them and cause it never goes below 40fps while there on i find them nice. If you want more fps id turn them off however, i dont care too much since its not that noticably rough

They don't really add anything to the gameplay itself, so I turn them off. My FPS is far higher because of it.

If you're using an Nvidia card, you may benefit from turning off the Nvidia Streamer Service. For whatever reason, Nvidia has this turned on by default with no obvious option to turn it off within settings. It's only there for people who own a Nvidia Shield....which most of us don't.

I had to turn them off using an auto-execute bat file. I tried everything in the settings to get volumetric lighting without godrays and ended up resorting to that.
