I think I done f*%#ed up... spoiler alert
so in a fit of impulsivity i built the teleporto-matic thingy you make in "The Molecular Level" with the Minutemen because I didn't like Desdemonda's Haircut. I now thourghly regret this decision because i remembered how much i hate the minutemen. I accidentally spoiled the endings for myself and now I want the Railroad ending where you get to adopt the kid. Can I still get the Railroad ending while building the teleporto-match thing with the minutemen?

two things you can do either a go back to a save or b you can drop it and try to still do the other quest, if it isn't working i think some command line can remove that quest (reset it actually) and give you the start of the other quest.

do a if possible since most likely b will royally screw something up.

Don't hold me to this but I believe you still get the chance to take the kid with you in the Minutemen ending. Also to keep the Railroad friendly make sure to give the evacuation order before initiating the self destruct sequence.

I already tired reseting the quest and it didn't work. Did I just choose my faction by building the teleporto-matic with the minutemen or can i choose another faction later?

The faction choice is, indeed, the faction you have build the teleporter device. As I said, though, I'm fairly certain you can still save the kid with a Minutemen ending.

If you built the teleporter with the Minutemen you can still work with the Railroad aslong as you aren't hostile to the Institute just go and speak to Desdemona. Also you can get synth shaun with the Minutemen ending.

If I am not mistaken, I believe you can take the kid with you no matter what faction you side with. You just have to activate the evacuation whatchamacallit first. I could be wrong, though. I am playing my BOS playthrough now and haven't gotten to that point yet.

go and do the railroad quests if possible cause ive heard you can drop any story quest at any time untill its final battle ie you kill elder maxson or you assult the institute with the minute men.

I did the ending as Minuteman and saved the kid as well. Make sure you issue the evac order before you finish at the institute iirc.

Who you built the teleporter with does not matter you can still side with any faction.

You can always save the kid. Even as the Institute, you end up with the kid. I'd rather have a kid with Piper, Cait and/or Curie the old fashioned way, but that's just me... ;-)

I am not sure what there is to hate about the completely benign Minutemen. But I can totally understand hating the Railroad for being such incomprehensibly huge idiots lead by the Queen moron herself. I cannot stand Desdemona. The only person in the game I wanted to shoot in the face more than Father was Desdemona.

If you side with any faction against the Institute, you have the chance to take Shaun with you. When you're ready to teleport out just before blowing the place, Shaun will come along and beg you to take him with you, believing he is really your son. With any of the three factions, you can leave him behind due to his not being your real son, or you can take him with you. I haven't made it that far into the questline myself yet, so I don't know where all you can take him to after leaving the Institute with him. I'm hoping I can send him to Sanctuary.

With the MM ending Shaun goes to the Castle, with BOS he will be on the Prydwen. RR, I cannot remember. At the Castle you can click Move and send him to any settlement. If you talk to him twice on the Prydwen you will get the option Would you like to come live with me, and you can move him.

I sent him to Spectacle Island but I think he is meant to be in Sanctuary because there he has some pathing, he sits on a porch and walks around. At other places he stands in one place like frozen.

OP, you can build the teleporter with any faction: it is just a device to let you travel to the Institute the first time. Afterwards you can remove it. The choice for which faction you want to destroy the Institute with comes much later.

You actually get go back to the railroad as long as you have completed 'Tradecraft'. They will ask you to reconsider your actions with the Minutmen and help them. If you say yes, then 'Underground Undercover' starts. Also, you can take Shaun with you in all non-institute endings.
