Covenant Gate Key

Ok, I managed to do Human Error, and when I went back to Covenant they all came out the gate to try and kill me. They failed. But the gate says I need a key to open it to get back in. I looted all of the Covenant settlers, Penny, Jacob, Swanson, Ted, Brian, the Doc and even Talia. No one had the gate key.

Any thoughts of how I'm suppose to open the gate?

Unless Deezer has it, But he's inside with the cat someplace.

First let me say HOLY COW!!! you have over 1100 hours in, I thought 700 was pretty good!
Now did you fight them all outside or inside? Jacob should have had a key did you recheck them all?

Ìf you're not to fuzzed about cheating your way in, clicking the door with the console open and typing 'unlock' will open it up.
But I'm guessing it will close itself again everytime you leave the cell ;/
TBH never went into Covenant myself, so I'm not sure how and what key you would need for it to open it 'legit'.

There is a key on Jacobs nightstand, Also you could toggle clipping and go over the gate. Unless you have PA with a jetpack.

Sorry I deleted my original post because I was talking a load of rubbish! I haven't done the quest for a while and was referring to Jacob as leader, not the mayor - cos he's not a mayor. lol

I have checked and triple checked everyone except Deezer for the key. The only keys I'v found are the house keys. I used the console to take ownership of everything. Because my first time thru, I picked up something and Deezer and the turrets started to shoot me.

This time I changed that. Mainly because once you destroy the turrets, there doesn't appear to be a way to replace them with my own. I'm guessing the Dev's used some Dev magic to get them there, and that some how prevents placing new ones down. And since I was told the settlement is some how tied to Deezer, I'v left him alone.

But I can't find the gate key anyplace. I'v looked.

Yeah I have a lot of time in. I'm old, retired and I rather enjoy the music, since it's what I grew up listening too on the radio. Plus this game feels like it was made for people like me. Being from another age, trying to live in a new world.

That was 1 of 9 Covenant House Keys. Thus far I have 9 house keys, 3 office keys, 3 Compound keys and 3 shop keys. No gate key.

Just checked via help... and there's 3 keys for covenant... and none of them are usefull for opening the gate (office/house/shop). Also get the message 'this opens elsewhere' so maybe it only opens via an NPC trigger?

That is what I was wondering. Thought I'd ask the community at large and see if someone had other idea's, or found the key for the gate.

I didn't want to assume anything without asking first.

I'm no expert but could this possibly be why you can't find the key on Jacob? Because he's the only one who has the key, retrievable either through killing or pickpocketing. Maybe you bugged the quest. I'd go back to a previous save if poss.

I bet you're right but if she did Human Error she had to go into Covenant to talk to honest Dan, So she already passed the safe test then.

Before embarking on the quests and ultimately destroying the settlement did you answer the quiz? If you do the quiz they grant you permission to use the gate, no key involved as far as I know.

You can't get the quest without passing the safe test and going inside.

I had searched high and low for the gate key. I even went back to The Compound looking for it. I then used jetpack to get over the wall to search for the gate key inside. Used lockpick to get into the main house on the left. I searched it high and low. I can't find a gate key anyplace. After having searched all day yesterday and thus-far today, I then broke out the console.
