Cannot open cfg files for reshades

I got a reshade for fallout 4 but could not get it to work. so stupid me opened it as note pad now any reshade and a few other things downloaded as notepad ive tried to fix this by messing with the registry on a tutorial i found and looking for an alternative but cannot change it back

using Windows 10
and for somereason i cannot reinstall windows 7 with the disk just tells me "Windows was unable to create a required installation folder Error code 0x80070005
if anyone can fix this problem i will buy them a game for under 50c canadian a

a reshade package should be in a zip folder , so you open them with winrar , 7zip , windows explorer .

rt click on the file ,select properties , open with then choose what ever program you prefer to use such as winrar , 7zip .
when you get that squared away you extract the contents into the fallout4 main folder unless there are special instructions . read the readmes so you know how to toggle effects on and off .
better still go to the reshade website and hit the forums to learn how to use them

if you borked windows you can rebuild it very easily with the command prompt sfc /now . again google it and read the instructions on how to use the command to fix the windows instal without having to re-install and all that painfull jaz

ive tried to do that it opens as a zip but the files inside are not even after being extracted ive also alreay tried those commands ive had this problem for around a week

.cfg files do open with notepad for one thing , the .cfg files hold the settings for the shader package . so i doubt you have done anything to learn how to use a reshade overlay .
go to link i posted for reshade and learn how to use it

With me i place the reshades into a file and it replaces those files but because they no longer open with windows explorer it does not replace them and i cannot find away to select them

just go to the reshade site and ask there and read/watch how to use them

No the files have been changed to note pad so it does not pick them up and i cannot change it back because it's a file i must replace i can't just select it

just rename them , rt.click> rename . just change them back to .cfg , i dont see why your having all this trouble , you cant change a file to notepad , notepad is used to open files , it's a tool/program not a type of file
rename them , just change .txt to .cfg for those reshade files , and for god sake go and learn how to use the reshade overlay instead of wasting time here doing nothing
