Should be plenty of people playing on that res. Think the biggest difference would be it's slightly more taxing on a system, other than that it is just a higher resolution ;p

TBH from the screens I've seen it looks far better, jaggies are for my eyes less noticable, and depth perception also benefits from a higher res

thats true as well, would you happen to have an ips panel?
Huehuehue, I haven't got a 1440p monitor ;p What I was refering to was screenshots I've been looking at.
My spud isn't capable of higher than 1080p without turning into a Japanese Holiday photoalbum

yes 2560 x 1440 40" the game will crash at ultra. res can not exceed 2560x 1440. but runs at this res. titan z runs hot to push it. 165 to 170 f. game runs nice and looks way better than when i began the game. before monitor up grade. in a way that would be my only complaint with the game. that you need a really good rig to really see how nice it looks. this was not the case with fallout 3 and vegas.

The games do look better, but it is not something that is absolutely critical to visually enjoy the game. In fact if you never compare the two side by side you will not even know what you are missing.

With that said if you do get the 1440 res you will love it. I have the Acer XB270HU with a 980ti so I have the ability to run at 144 refresh rate. So the higher refresh with the 1440 res and the settings on ultra are making this a real pleasure to play.

I do not have FRAPS so I do not know what FPS I am running but I never have a slowdown that I notice. Just make sure you have the video horse power to run it and you will love it.

I also have a gtx 980ti, and i was thinking on getting the xb271hu but idk how i feel ablout spending that much money when i know i will get a 4k monitor in like 5-6 years, but i dont like the one i ordered i will prob go through with it :p

@xund you will love the combo gpu + monitor if you get it. It is not a cheap date but once the money is gone, you will not miss it. :) Consider the time you spend in front of the monitor and the real value starts to outweigh the higher cost.

Also consider that if you are 5 years out from 4k then this will be perfect for you to bridge that large timeframe. If you do want 4k sooner you will probably need a lot more gpu to push that res so you will then probably go with something like a 980ti in sli. The additional gpu will cost you about what you will pay for the monitor so that is basically a wash.

When I got this set up I was in the middle of Witcher 3, and was blown away by the monitor. Now I did not feel that I was "deprived" with 1080 but this monitor was the icing on the cake. I did not see them side by side beforehand so I did not really know what I was missing.

Also if you read up on the Acer XB270HU you will see complaints about light bleed. Even if your monitor does display some corner bleed do not get discouraged. As soon as you turn it on fully and start playing anything you will not see a thing. If you want to look at purely black screen then it may bug you, but if you actually want to use your monitor you will not see a thing. Good luck.

Thanks man I really appreciate it, the newer model is a beautiful monitor and I think it might be worth the extra cost :p

I have a 1440p display with "only" a gtx 970 paired with an i7. I run everything maxed out except noAA, and low for Godrays. It doesnt stay at 60, but it is usually pretty close, and Gsync takes care of the rest. When I first upgraded from a 1080p monitor in december, I was impressed with the clarity, especially the water, but it isn't essential. I also enjoy that I can play the game without AA pretty well. You see jaggies, but its better than 1080p. Looking forward to getting a new GPU to run it at a locked 60 with maxed Godrays.

Once you go 1440, you never go back to 1080. It's much crispier, and sharper.
