Companion console commands not working?
Ages ago I used

getav CA_affinity Get Companion Affinity Level
setav CA_affinity Sets Companion Affinity Level

commands to get/set the companion affinity, due to wanting to do their story but unwilling to drag their asses around and change how I play to appease them :P but now I find the commands don't work? I may be doing something wrong but neither commands will give info, nor allow change of companions I select, am I making a mistake or are these commands broken at the moment?

i did this a while ago for nicks. The trick is you have to set it to multiples of 250 then talk to them and hear their unique dialouge then up the level by another 250.

So start with 250
Then 500 (which trigger the quests i think)
then 750
Then 1000 (which is the most you can gain)

The sucky part is you can't have all of the companion perks active even though they all are at max affinity.

Oh ya one more thing, in order to trigger them talking to you, you have to do something they like. Lockpicking and hacking are the easiest things to do for this usually.

You can just gain affinity without the console, try this:
Bring your companions all to one place
Bring dogmeat with you
Console kill dogmeat
Stimpak dogmeat
Repeat every 4 in-game hours, easier with a bed.
BTW never use setav... use "modav", just make sure you're increasing it to the right value.

Don't use setav btw, use modav.
It works to increase a value to something, or take it away for example:
getav ca_affinity
You have 125, right?
modav ca_affinity 125 would make it 250
modav ca_affinity -125 would make it 0

Nothing comes up, its weird, I put the command in and it accepts it, no error or cant parse line etc.. but nothing happens, the code goes in.. no responce from the consol and no change in the game.

Are you sure you've clicked them before typing it in?

Search for "affinity" on fallout 4 nexus mods. I think either one of those mods will do what you want.

I know I'm heavily late to this. But it works for me, and I was curious on this too. You bring up the console command. Move your mouse to them and click on them. Then type getav CA_affinity and you'll get the number then you can do setav CA_affinity [number]. Maybe in 2016 it was an odd patch that messed it up.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
