Limit to settlers for all settlements?
For my entire game I had one settlement that had plenty of beds and the radio becon always on. As settlers came I'd move them to where I wanted.

Recently no more settlers have been arriving. So I built another radio becon in another settlement and no one has come yet. Wondering if there is a limit to how many settlers you can have for all your settlements total.

number of settlers depends on your charisma level

with charisma at level 10 on the perk screen you can have up to 20 settlers, only other way to get more then that is with armor and clothing, and I think a specifc drug type? bonuses to boost charisma.

Not for a single settlement, I mean for all your settlements combined. I'm curious as to why I'm getting no new settlers.

Oh that I'm not sure

have you tried transfering settlers from the full settlements to other places and more might spawn at the original settlement they came from?
Bored Peon Mar 2, 2016 @ 8:54pm
The maximum legitmate population is 42 settlers.

Settlers are generated when the area surrounding a settlement is respawned. It does not respawn if you are constantly traveling through it.

Well every settlement can have max number of settlers (depending on your charisma). I have all the settlements except 2 or 3, and each one has 22 settlers each.

After you build a radio beacon it takes a few in game days for settlers to start coming in. You usually get 1 or 2 within a day, but I know it's taken over 5 game days before I've seen tons of settlers coming into a new settlement, just fyi.
I saw one guy say that he had gotten 63 settlers at the place where you can build 20 stories - Abernathy Farms, I think. I've only ever had 21 at most in any settlement.

I've found that if I have too many beacons placed too close together, they settlers seem to get confused or something.

What I do is have just 2-3 beacons, in settlements spaced WAY apart. Then just send settlers to my other settlements now and then. Seems to work ok.

Apparently you need need to go consult a dictionary for the word LEGITIMATE.

Ya I tried that. Problem is the dumbass game always remembers their original settlement for conversations and quests. As in if you sent settlers form Abernathy to Sanctuary then later defended Abernathy, then on your next trip to Sanctuary your settlers you transferred will thank you for defending. They will also complain about the stats of their original settlement and not the current one they are in.

Settlers are generated when the area around a settlement respawns. If you keep traveling through that area it will take longer to reset.

Bored Peon, you go after everyone in the Forums, don't you? I just read another thread (settlement happiness) where you were just waving your little member everywhere. I just made a comment, that's all. On YouTube, a guy (I don't remember who) built a fantastic settlement after he had discovered 63 settlers on his farm, quite inadverdently - on a console platform, by the way, so no mods there.

That's all I said - no need to blow your testosterone at my estrogen. Wouldn't work anyhow. I think you need a nap. :)
Hmm i thought vanilla max was 22 jeez guess that means I can disable my mod that ups it to 40 settler cap
Hobo Misanthropus Mar 2, 2016 @ 10:57pm
Naw, vanilla max is like 40 or something, but you have to game the system kinda. You need alL CHR boosting drugs and equipment, Party Boy/Girl and two settlements with 20-21 settlers, since any settlement with the "Soft" cap won't take anymore.

So when you have your two settlements with 21, you use all your CHR stuff and the send all your settlers in one of the 20+ Settlements to the other.

Enjoy your lag.

I build beacons in ALL my settlements, have about 20 so far in this game. That way, when I do start anew settlement, I can go around to all the others and send 1 or 2 settlers to the new place, and the old settlements will get back to max fairly fast

in previous game, I had 26 settlements (I think) and all of them were over 20 population

Ahhh ok, ill keep the mod then. No lag issuses with 40+ nanny bots for defense and settlement with 21 settlers atm

Thanks for the replies.

Embarrassingly I didn’t have the recruitment beacons on. However, in my defense the light on them was green. I finally noticed when I was fast traveling out of the settlements I didn’t get the message lost recruitment signal. Seems to be an issue with the beacons if they are switched on and off too quickly.
