Any idea how to not stick your gun up your face?
So as the title show, im a little annoyed by the fact your gun are WAY too close from our character face. I did changed the FOV in the game folder by going trought C;/Documents/my games/Fallout 4 but the thing is the fov still suck for the weapons

I like this game but it feel claustrophobic with a weapon out. Yes I downloaded a mod that lower automatically my weapon when im not shooting without holstering it but still, the distance between the camera and the gun is way too small.

So anyone know how to change that feature or Bethesda just told us to go f*ck ourselves once more?

Oh hell, there is a weapon FOV option in the INI but I can't remember it. I kinda wanna see it too now. Fallout 4 has a case of the "Halos" where your gun takes up 2/3 of your screenspace.

The only thing you can do is tweak the FoV in your game's ini files, and never, ever use an Institute weapon.

Seriously, how *that* visual monstrosity wasn't obliterated in Play Testing boggles the mind.

ok i found it. this has worked for me so far:

How to change the game fov.
Unlike how you may have changed the fov in Skyrim, Fallout 4 requires a little more work. Note it requies changes to three files, there are two files called Fallout4Prefs.ini in two different locations and one called Fallout4.ini, all three need to be changed as below. Please not the fov changes have to be a multiple of 10 otherwise this will not work.

Firstly go to your Fallout4.ini (loacted at C:\Users\[name]\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\) and under [Display] put the below:
fDefaultWorldFOV=XX
fDefault1stPersonFOV=YY

* where XX is you desired fov in third person.
* where YY is the desired fov in first person.
I feel 90 is what will probably be best for most, but tweak away. :)

Next go to the Fallout4Prefs.ini and do the same directory as above (C:\Users\[name]\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\), under [Display] put:
fDefaultWorldFOV=XX
fDefault1stPersonFOV=YY

* where XX is you desired fov in third person.
* where YY is the desired fov in first person.
I feel 90 is what will probably be best for most, but tweak away. :)

Next go to where you installed steam then open steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Fallout4 (a folder called Fallout 4 is in another folder called Fallout4, how many levels deep does this go ;) ). Next open the Fallout4Prefs.ini here and once again under [Display] add the below:
fDefaultWorldFOV=XX
fDefault1stPersonFOV=YY

* where XX is you desired fov in third person.
* where YY is the desired fov in first person.
I feel 90 is what will probably be best for most, but tweak away. :)

Note, the fov options under [Interface] in Fallout4.ini do not need to be changed for this to work.

Your FOV should now be changed for both first and third person. :)

Finally to change you gun model (and pip body fov) do the below.
If you find your pipboy to be to small, press ~, the type fov XX, where XX is a smallish number if you want it to be larger on screen and vice versa. This will take same trial and error like the fov to get what you like. Next type in refreshini, doing so will make it so your game will not revert to the default 80 fov. Next press ~ save your game and from that point on you should be good to go. [/quote]

This method worked for me. Using the console command to set up the FOV for first person/third person doesn't stick but this method does. Using the console command to then adjust pip boy/gun model FOV doesn't reset the other FOV values. Thank you so much!

Bolded at the end is what you really wanna pay attention to. I didn't post this, just did some searching in the forums. I'd be a ♥♥♥♥ and tell you to do the same, but I knew what I was looking for already so that wouldn't be fair.

To be honest, no option work.... I tried to put the fov to 500 just to try out but my gun still at the same default place.... Fov of 90 is perfect but THE GUNS TILL TOO CLOSE TO MY FACE! Im not talking about making a fatman disapearing from the screen neither, just trying to make the deliverer not look like I have a fatman in my hands. All the weapons are too close to the creen and that make me feel claustrophobic.

I even installed a mod to change fov and nothing work... mayeb bethesda really want you to count the pixels on their weapon

you can lower the gun when you're not using it

Meaning someone has theirs out, and sees you first, you're kinda screwed.

Or if you don't mind modding, google 'Lowered Weapons'. It's easy and it work wonders.

Solution to counter that: VATS. Instantly pull out your gun and shoot people before they can even shoot. If VATS has supe rlow hit chance you can still quit VATS and aim with your weapon that is now un-holstered (I is english much good)

Yea but he did clearly state in his post what he wanted and that he was already using it, and yet half the people who responded only mentioned the mod because the didn't bother to actually read OPs problem or what he wanted.

Maybe not the best way but I can understand his frustration.

Well, yes, it was a bit late a I should have been in my bed instead of browsing the forum. But still, just wanted to help. So try not to bite my head off when I come again, there is a second mod 'Button Lowered Weapons - First and Third Person' maybe this works better , but I don't know this one. Maybe ask the mod author if he can tell you how to move the weapon, maybe he knows.

Sorry for how I react but when people tell em to do me something I already did because they don,t read all the description I tend to become a ♥♥♥♥ liek most of people on the internet.

But seriously, I searched everywhere but the only FOV change is your vision. I NEVER saw something about putting more distance between your face and your gun. Here a really good example of weapon FOV: Contagion. This game have the option to aim your pistol as close to your face as CoD can offer or you can set your gun to aim like your arms were fully extended if fornt of you in a realistic way. Problem is that contagion is a Beta/alpha game i think while Fallout 4 is "a complete game" but still have too many glitch and need DLC to feel less empty than a Call of Duty.

Long story short, If anyone find something about the weapon fov just post it here! It will be helpfull not only for me but for everyone that got the same problem!

P.S.: I won't get into the argument of "is Fallout 4 good or not?" it's a personnal opinion but feel free to debate if you want to!

P.S.: I've been informed that a new settlement need your help

No need for that, I hate it myself when people don't read before making a replay. But, hey, my mistake here.

I'm not one for making edit in my .ini. I tend to mess things up, so not sure this will help at all. But I came across this some time back: Fallout 4 Ultimate Tweak Tool.
Don't know, maybe it's good for something. It do have a Aim FOV.
