Parsons State Insane Asylum abrupt end to quest?

My quest list stated "investigate Parsons State Insane Asylum."
On reaching it I got a confirmation notice - " Investigate Parsons State Insane Asylum completed"
No further instructions and the quest not even shown in the completed list.
I know this to be quite a detailed quest but where did I go wrong or is this a bug?

Sometimes NPCs will make a remark about a location that you have not discovered yet. The game will just tell you to investigate the location and then that is done.

You can get the quest in two locations: at a house in Boston and a caravan place. I do not want to spoil your exploring. If you would like to do this quest now you can easily look it up.

I was wondering about this too. I got the quest to investigate it, then when I got there there was nowhere to gain entry (couldn't find the key to the front door). I ended up accidentally shooting a few mercenaries that were guarding it and weren't enemies to start with.

I did get the quest as complete though, I just thought there would be more to it than just visiting it. Maybe it's there for cosmetic/touring reasons, perhaps there's a similar insane asylum in the REAL Boston? :)

Yeah that whole investigate the asylum quest is kinda a lame rumor. Mos trumors lead you to somethig to do, this one lacks any links from Parsons back to Cabot House.

There are a series of quests related to the Asylum. Go to Bunker Hill and talk to Edward Deegan about a job. That will get you started and eventually lead you back to the asylum where you will be able to enter it.

We know that. We are talking about the rumor you overhear to go visit the Asylum.
