.50 sniper rifle is useless
So i got .44 magnum (25% damage/limbdamage) doing 201 damage.
Then i have assault shotgun (additional projectile) doing 262 damage (so with the Additional projectile it adds up to 524 damage).
Then i have gaussrifle (additional projectile) doing 634 damage (that adds up to 1268 damage).
Then there is the .50 sniper rifle (25% damage) which does only 153 damage... see anything wrong with this picture? of course it shouldt bee deadlier than gaussrifle, but it should be at least 300 damage without the legendary perk. its totaly useless... of course i have all the perks maxed out so that cant be the reason why it does so little damage. small flaw with the game...

There are rebalance mods for the .50, I suggest looking into them. It is rather pathetically weak in the base game.

One reason I stick with the Combat Assault Rifle, a nice weapon if you have the bullets, plus it kills everything

The Gauss rifle isn't doing 634 per shot unless you're using mods. Two-shot weapon damage displayed is the total of both of them.

For reference, a fully-modded Gauss rifle with full Rifleman but no Lone Wanderer, Bloody Mess, or chems, does exactly 384. A two-shot double hit is slightly less damaging than two hits from a normal Gauss rifle (768), but of course is more ammo efficient if you're hitting with both shots. Instigating beats the hell out of both if you're a stealthy sniper.

A fully-modded .50 cal rifle does about 124 under the same conditions, with far more common ammunition than 2mm, and is easier to mod, as well. It's not amazeballs, but it IS an early-game weapon.

Where are ya, urbancamper? There are detractors of your beloved weapon of choice!

:o iv always thought it only show the damage of the one projectile, but i guess i was wrong. so my assault shotgun does 130 damage x2 ? lol
its so unbalanced. still i rather stick with the basegame and use only graphic mods.

50. Caliber Rifles weren't balanced logically, they were balanced on their availablity.

So yes, it's weak, But it wasn't intended to be like the all powerful AMR in New Vegas. The commonality of its ammo and how early you can get it reflects this.

"two shot" for shotguns is bugged. it just fires 8 instead of 7 bullets...not 14 ;)

Edit: on the other hand the "explosive" and "wounding" legendaries count for every bullet... so THATS OP ;)

yea in first game i sticked with the half automatic or boltaction guns, but in this second game i started with automatic guns. i got double projectile automatic plasma rifle which is sweet. though the ammo costs a lot and the recoil is massive. then i have submachinegun which has explosive rounds which is much more easier to shoot, kills pritty good too and the ammo is cheaper. its tricky when there is allies nearby tho pecause explosive might hit them too and then they attack me too... then i just have to kill verybody...

Yeah it's pretty asinine that a gun that can literally shoot down flying planes from a standing position on the ground does such ridiculously low damage. Thankfully there is a mod as mentioned.

i can see that, though fully upgrading the rifle requires quite a lot of levels and gunsmith perks. you are not that early then anymore. you come by gaussrifles before that. the gun could have been low damage untill u get the .50 upgrade and then it could have done massive damage.

I guess I don't see a .50 cal sniper rifle as being weak when used correctly as intended. One shot to the head from distance and cover and that's all it takes. It's not an assualt rifle or combat rifle.

Gun Nut 2 enables a .50 cal pipe bolt-action rifle with a long finned barrel, recoil compensating stock, a long scope (+Science 1 for a long recon scope), and a suppressor. This means level 13, INT 3 (INT 6 if you want the recon scope). I was sniping w/ .50 cal rounds by the time I first reached super mutants at a satellite array...

simple imo... Gauss Rifle is literally a railgun.. a .50 cal Sniper Rifle is just a standard sniper rifle ported with a .50 Reciever... still a traditional firewarm so not too much increased stopping power despite it being a high-velocity and large caliber bullet... guns are kinda ♥♥♥♥♥ in this game but it seems the Gauss Rifle is too OP. idk op.
