Damn I'm happy not to be the only one - I also went through so many headphones in the past year that I ended up simply sticking to my apple earbuds in the end to save money.
Since I don't really have any kind of sturdy headset to recommend based on my experience, I would advise to avoid the Hyperx Cloud, which may seem like an ideal choice for your price range, but it broke on me two times on top of holding some poor sound quality for both of the models I had recieved.

Corsair Void. Very happy with sound(not just for gaming) and construction.
And I have the basic model :)

@ Mcmiller- We schould form some type of anti-cheep headphone club on account Same exact thing happend to me, and its not like I was ruff on them or threw them around all over the place either, They just simply Broke pretty much in half, dont ask me how I wouldnt be able to explain but....People do desprate things sometimes to save money check this out....out of the 3 broken pairs of headphones I had lying around I took out the 50mm drivers ( or whatever the hell they are techinclly ) and i somehow managed to make myself a pair of Hybrid headphones consisting of 3 diffrent name brands lmao!!! So as u can imagine iam kinda sick of using them plus they have ( Permanently) engraved a Soundblaster 3d Tactical logo on the top of my Skull! My wife now thinks I was born with some kind of birth defect! Thank you Soundblaster!

So dude I am just looking for something with halfway decent sound that wont crush my head, break on me within a few weeks or cause me anymore grief.Nz

all expensive headphones break easily. i stop buying them after i spent $150 3 different times. i now rock a $12 logitech and i have had it for 6 years. the cord gets run over and tangled by my chair wheels and it doesn't even matter :)
Superlux 685b w/ hifiman velour earpads:

The pads is sold on amazon, and costs only 10 dollars with free shipping.
http://www.amazon.com/HIFIMAN-Velour-Earpads-Headphone-replacement-HE400/dp/B00VV2JYXK (buy this version instead of the 15 dollar version, amazon review says it doesn't work.)

This is a really awesome headphones for gaming, since it is semi-open(and decently ood for music, too.) It has removable cable!!!

The earpads would be a great great upgrade, and for 10 bucks, it is cheap. (My earpads are still shipping.)

For headphones under 100 bucks, a earpad upgrade is pretty much essential. I owned a sony mdr-7506(80 bucks), and spent about 45 dollars on two sets of earpads. (The default is sweat and hurts my jaw and ears, while the first hurts my jaw and ears, too (due to the shallow depth of earpad constatnly touching my ears.) I finally got a comfy pair on the second try. And I spent 60 bucks to mod the headphones so the cable is detachable. (I ripped the plug on accident) (You can mod it one you own but the materials required is about 40 bucks.) And they have crappy soundstage, since they are closed headphones.

So I am fairly satisfied w/ my superlux hd668b. Though the audio is too bright for playing music and the default pads are shallow and hard, it is not a hot as the mdr-7506, since it is semi-open. Because the game is pretty quiet, you can have the surround-sound feeling, and know where the enemy through sound. (much better than logitech headphones under 100 dollars, again, due to the semi-open design.) So the only thing lacking is an ear pad upgrade!
Also, if you do buy the superlux, stretch the wings on your headphone box. It'll help reduce the clamping force by a lot. My head is large, and I am not bothered by the clamping force.
Also, the headphone is super light.
Oh! And it is worth the wait. (Earpads is optional though, but it helps a lot.)

I used a 1400*900 monitor. :( on low rez to get steady 60 fps... lol. Partially due to poor optimization.
Anyways, this headphone sounds much better after burning in. I really won't go above 300 dollars for headphones, unless you are a professional musician.

http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-audio/kraken

Razer kraken is great for sound quality. Only issue I've had are the cables tangling with each other, but are easy to untangle and they'll stay like that for abit. Even when tangled it doesnt affect sound quality. I bought them for recording videos, the microphone is decent, but sounds abit distant at times.
