Since I don't really have any kind of sturdy headset to recommend based on my experience, I would advise to avoid the Hyperx Cloud, which may seem like an ideal choice for your price range, but it broke on me two times on top of holding some poor sound quality for both of the models I had recieved.
And I have the basic model :)
So dude I am just looking for something with halfway decent sound that wont crush my head, break on me within a few weeks or cause me anymore grief.Nz

The pads is sold on amazon, and costs only 10 dollars with free shipping.

This is a really awesome headphones for gaming, since it is semi-open(and decently ood for music, too.) It has removable cable!!!
The earpads would be a great great upgrade, and for 10 bucks, it is cheap. (My earpads are still shipping.)
For headphones under 100 bucks, a earpad upgrade is pretty much essential. I owned a sony mdr-7506(80 bucks), and spent about 45 dollars on two sets of earpads. (The default is sweat and hurts my jaw and ears, while the first hurts my jaw and ears, too (due to the shallow depth of earpad constatnly touching my ears.) I finally got a comfy pair on the second try. And I spent 60 bucks to mod the headphones so the cable is detachable. (I ripped the plug on accident) (You can mod it one you own but the materials required is about 40 bucks.) And they have crappy soundstage, since they are closed headphones.
So I am fairly satisfied w/ my superlux hd668b. Though the audio is too bright for playing music and the default pads are shallow and hard, it is not a hot as the mdr-7506, since it is semi-open. Because the game is pretty quiet, you can have the surround-sound feeling, and know where the enemy through sound. (much better than logitech headphones under 100 dollars, again, due to the semi-open design.) So the only thing lacking is an ear pad upgrade!
Also, the headphone is super light.
Oh! And it is worth the wait. (Earpads is optional though, but it helps a lot.)
Anyways, this headphone sounds much better after burning in. I really won't go above 300 dollars for headphones, unless you are a professional musician.
lol I was checkin out this thread cause I'm usin my kids apple earbuds.
Razer kraken is great for sound quality. Only issue I've had are the cables tangling with each other, but are easy to untangle and they'll stay like that for abit. Even when tangled it doesnt affect sound quality. I bought them for recording videos, the microphone is decent, but sounds abit distant at times.
