Shadow Boost?
Since 1.3, I've been getting the following whenever I launch the game:

The game will launch normally if I press No but if I choose Yes, I need to terminate the process from the Task Manager or it'll hog resources forever without actually doing anything.

What's this Shadow Boost thing anyway?

Well, Google tells me it is this mod that you somehow forgot that you downloaded: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1822/?

I don't have any mods installed though. Guess Bethesda's pulling the "this mod's popular, might as well make it official in our newest update" trick but forgot to actually change the code to make the mod theirs.

Uh, no. Bethesda is not doing that, have never done anything remotely like that, and will not do anything like that. Someone downloaded a mod to your game. Or you've got a weird virus that just happens to have the same name as a fallout 4 mod.

Riiight. It's not that uncommon a practice, and Bethesda's reputation is bad enough that it wouldn't be surprising if they did it... again. Yeah, again. They've already done it with Skyrim.

No, Bethesda has never included fan made mods in any release, where are you even getting this? They were going to allow modders to sell mods, but that was a different issue.

That's where you got the idea to download it.

This is where you get the latest binaries.

A new version was released today. Follow the instructions and it'll make the game adjust shadow resolutions based on stuff so your fps are gooder. You don't remember? You read about dis and were like "grunt" and you installed it at the same time as 12 other mods and ran the game without testing or backing up your saves, ya know, like a modder do.
