Weapon mods in inventory query.

Some will see this as a dumb question, but to save weight I placed all the mods in the workbench. Are the weapons then still equipped with their mods?

Yep, the mods in your inventory are the parts that got swapped out on upgrading.
Just store them in the workbench, as they're also shared via supply lines so it might come in handy when modding a different weapon somewhere along the line.

Just a note you cannot use the mods from the benches inventory you have to take them out and put them in your own then modify the weapon. When you go into the mod option there is an install option instead of a make option. I learned this the hard way.

Yes you can? They're sharable via supply lines, and that is linked directly to the workbench inventory.
You can't tell because what mods are available to you isn't shown, but if the recipe needed doesn't require materials you know it worked
