Crashing around bunker hill?
I have had the game since release, and so far it only works on 1 computer in the house and my laptop is more powerful than the desktop and i wint run on it... thats beside the point. I started a new playthrough and anytime i go ANYWHERE near Bunker Hill, i CTD. I have dont NOTHING QUEST RELATED since starting this playthrough, and just to see if its bug, i went on my old save with a older character that have done most quests, and i can go there just fine. the new charachet cant though and i have the exact same mods on BOTH saves. mostly they are graphics mods. i can run on Ultra with steady 80-90 FPS.
I have no clue what is going on! Please give info if you can!

I had trouble with bunker hill I would be thrown out of game sometimes in 20 seconds or 3 minutes while in or near settlement. If you can get in to Bunker Hill try to find anything that is strange use the command "~" "markfordelete" "enter" "~" then fast travel away before crash. In my game I found a stray pack brahmin in Bunker Hill once i removed it works fine now. Maybe you have simular problem.

edit - i forgot to add if you use the console command you must select the object with mouse pointer and left mouse button after opening the console before entering command.

Yep, I cannot stay in Bunker Hill anymore. It crashes every time now. I have no mods. It is a clean install with many hours of play.

Verify your game files. See if anything broke:

If you think the verification process itself could be broken, which can happen in rare cases, then delete the appcache/ folder in the Steam directory and run the verification again.

I found a solution to the Bunker Hill crashing. When I removed the caravan resource object, the problem went away. It seemed it could not handle the objects existence even though the building menu allows you to set up a caravan meeting point.

That ties in with something else I may have found in regards to Bunker Hill. The stores in the settlement should not be assigned to settlers. If the named settler is missing or dead do not assign a different settler to store. There are caravan stores inside main building used by caravan so the carvan tarp probably conflicts.

I have had crashing around Bunker Hill for many games now. This is the first time I have tried to correct it. I may have removed something I wasn't supposed to, but I'm not sure that's the problem.

I was with the Institute during the Battle of Bunker Hill, and I had a cowering problem. When I came back later, after destroying the Institute. Mayor Kessler was cowering and I told her to leave (that was about the best option). When I came back later, she was nowhere to be found. I tried to move back here, but there was a [D] in her prid, so I resurrected her. She offered me Bunker Hill almost immediately.

I want to try some other solutions.

How do you remove the "caravan resource object"?

Where is the caravan tarp and what would I do with that?

Is there anything in the basement I should worry about?

Can someone answer this? I came across the same CTD bug and don't know how to fix it.

Reinstall your game, as the solution above from 6 years ago would indicate. verify your game files first, remove any mods and start the game in vanilla using play, to make sure it's working, and then reenstate any mods one at a time as long as they do not modify the area.

I've also had the the same bug for years . I've tried going to Bunker Hill for years in VANILLA and MODDED forms . I've sent sen't several times (over the years ) '' tickets '' ( or whatever they call it ) off to Bethesda with all the relevant info they want with it and so far , had heard nothing , for the record ( and I don't know how is for everyone else ) , the closest I've managed to get Bunker hill is '' warping in '' to '' Abandoned House or '' Drug Den '' , And on some play-thru's , the game crashes at those locations also .

Indeed it does, because that area is very prone to crashing, since there are a tremendous number of leaky gaps in the scenery for one thing. There's a great black hole under the dock nearby, the whole place is a mess. But if it's crashing repeatedly 'if you do x thing' ... don't do x thing. Walk in instead of zoning with fast travel. It's not gonna get fixed, unless they have actually made the effort to repair all the terrible glaring geometry gaps.

Did that already, that's why I was trying to find a different solution and that's how I ended up here. Seems that deleting some mysterious object helps some people eliminate the crashes entirely. That's why I was asking what was the fix and is it the same thing or different things for different people. I found a counter that had "repair for:" but the list was empty and it couldn't be repaired, so I deleted it, but it didn't fix the crashes. Is deleting and marking for delete different or not? Appreciate any tips anyone can give me.
