"Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered" with Fallout 4.
Hey all, I'm in need of some help with a well-known issue involving Fallout 4 and graphics drivers.
I've recently bought a GTX 960 and it's been running absolutely fine with all games except Fallout, regardless of where I'm at or which save i'm on. I've started a new clean save and it seems to crash about 3-4 minutes into the game. I can hear the Windows "ping" noise telling me that the driver has stopped, but I can't access anything as my monitor also loses signal, so I have to turn it off at the computer case itself.
I've tried rolling back drivers, wiping all drivers using DDU and re-installing them, tried lowering the core clock and memory clock a tad in Afterburner, raising the fan speed and so on. The GPU doesn't seem to be overheating or showing any odd symptoms at all. I'm just wondering what the cause could be as I know this issue came up in November but I'm still experiencing it with both recent drivers and older ones.
Another thing, could it be a problem with the monitor? I use a TV as a monitor (I had it bought for me, I wouldn't use a tv for a computer ever again) and the "PC" input is connected through a VGA. I'm currently having to use HDMI for the moment though until I get an adapter. Could it be a problem with the monitor linking to the graphics driver?

Sorry for the big paragraph, but it's really annoying me not being able to play it for more than 3 minutes. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?

I don't know what exactly would be causing it, but I would suggest increasing your TdrDelay or whatever it is in Regedit.exe- https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/3snzl3/updates_on_fallout_4_crashes_and_potential_fixes/

Same with Radeon, the specs:

CPU AMD FX(tm)-6350 Six-Core Processor
MB MSI 970 GAMING (MS-7693) 4.0
GPU AMD Radeon (TM) R9 380 Series, Version 16.1.1 Hotfix
RAM 8 GB Kingston DDR-3
be quit Straight Power 10, 700W

Right spawning the map, the game crash to desktop. Doesnt matter, if in high or low res. That really piss me off...

I got this with GTA V, there seems no solid fix for it on that game. It's unknown what causes it :(

I had this problem for month's before Fallout came out, tried everything. In the end I installed ccleaner and it cleaned out the crap in the system and repaired the registry..... No problems since.

Thanks, I tried this and the game ran for just under 10 minutes before crashing again. So annoying!

I'll try this when I get home. I really hope there's a fix somewhere, it's a bit ♥♥♥♥ not being able to play a game I paid for. :(

Try disabling the nvidia streaming service. I stopped crashing after turning that off. You only need it for the shield.

I know exactly how you feel, I was pulling my hair out with this. Came across people talking about ccleaner, I was a little nervous about downloading things I didn't know about but I couldn't see anything bad about it.

It fixed the problem for me and now I regularly use it with zero problems.

That fixed it, surprisingly. Played about 30-40 min, no problems any more.

Thought, I tryed out that before... thanks!

That's great to here.... Hopefully you don't see anymore problems.

Right, I've disabled the Nvidia streaming service and I'm going to run ccleaner now. Let's hope this works!

Fingers crossed.
