My face turned black.
For some reason today, the face of my character turned black. I'd like to fix that. So far I tried disabling mods changing textures which didn't fix the problem and I tried reseting the .inis which didn't work either. NPCs still have their faces, seems to just affect mine.

It's called a reverse M. Jackson.

Gangrene.

Seriously, though, it sounds like what happened is that you installed some sort of texture mod for the player character (hence why it's just your face), but the texture is incorrect or missing.

Just disabling the mod won't help, as the texture has been replaced and is still looking for whatever that broken file is.

Uninstall that mod and then re-install it. If the mod itself is fine (which I assume it is if there aren't tons of other people complaining about this in the mod's comments... you DID read the comments, right?), then this should fix the problem.

I've never had any mods but this happened to mine as well, could be a hardware issue?

It could posibly be hair mod issues. Deacon has a thick head of hair but sometimes when I look at him he is bald. it frustrated me but reinstalling the hair mod I use fixed it.

If that doesn't work possibly try going to the face doctor and see if that resets it.

He wears wigs as part of his disguises, sure it wasn't that?

What, seriously? I never thought they were wigs just a glitch.

I was getting that, also. No mods. Don't worry, the commonwealth citizens will just ignore it. What they think of you is a different thing.

Seriously though, when I entered the 1.3 beta it stopped happening. Still no blackface after the full release.

I kinda fixed it by installing this http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3841/? but yeah idk, the only thing I did was deleteing some mods I wasn't using and I tired optimising fallout 4 with geforce experience and then my face turned black. Might be an NMM related problem though.

Nope, he changes outfits when he isn't equipped with player items. He rotates them on fast travelling or changing areas

I know this thread is a bit old but I had this happen to me and fixed it by just quitting and reloading the game. Hope this helps anyone else who looks at this thread :D

You can also just go to a barber and change your beard, that is what fixed it for me.

Ok I laughed at that.

Or the OP's character is thinking of auditioning for the "Black & White Minstrel Show" (old racist TV show shown in Britain where white actors would black up their faces and behave in an offensively stereotyped fashion.) Believe it or not it was considered good "entertainment" back then..that was before the invention of "political correctness". lol
