Need to wait for GECK (creation kit) for quality mods with weapon holsters or something like that.

Yeah there is a mod over at the Nexus, lowered weapon it's called I think. Haven't installed it yet myself as I'm waiting for the release of GECK.

There's currently no animations for proper holstering, and I assume character skeletons aren't properly setup to support attached weapons.

Knowing that the Bethesda Modding community is extremely barren when it comes to animators (The only decent one has no interest in modding for FO4), I doubt a mod will be made.

There isn't a lot of animators because the engine hasn't supported custom animations well.

Personally, I don't think "Proper" animations are strictly necessary.

I'm assuming that there's more conflict with the Layered armor and weapon Quick-Swap than anything though.

As people have already said, such mod does not exist and it will proberly take a long time for it to come out as i (think) it did in skyrim, even though it's one of my most wanted smaller mods.
Atm. I'm just using another mod that lets me have a model of a sniper on my backpack just for visuals

Biping the weapon to the player and adding a sway animation would be the basics, can't really do anything until April.

I'm still thinking visible holstered weapons will come in a patch.
A lot of the new features added by the patches certainly feel like things they just hadn't implemented in time for release, like the Settler Job icons.

Skyrim always showed your equipped weapons while sheathed.

The mods just added the ability to see multiple ones at once.
Which technically is available by default if you just put bdisablegearedup=0 in your ini file. Just some bugs with weapon swapping if you don't sheath your equipped weapon first.
