Best way to get settlers fast?
I have a settlement with over 100 of each resource (exept food but thats pretty high) and I have little stuff like decorations and lighting and stuff like that but I only have gotten 7 settlers. I was told charisma helps but I have 10. Any tips? I also have the recruitment beacon.

Move some from other settlements.

I have to turn off my beacons because i get to many settlers, almost all my settlements have 20 settlers.

Decorations and lighting have absolutely no effect on settlers, neither their happiness, not their numbers. The settlement's happiness rating does have an effect on the chance of a new settler arriving. Is your recruitment beacon powered and turned on? Have you been moving settler away from that settlement to other places? The chance of new settlers appearing seems to decrease as more arrive, whether you move them or not. If you keep moving settlers out of an area, eventually it will take weeks for a new settler to arrive.

From what I have read settlers have a chance to spawn periodically and respond to your beacon. You may have picked a settlement with relatively few spawn areas, it may be competing with other beacons in the area, or you may just be having having bad spawn luck.

What he says, it takes time, eventually it will be near 20.
I have an experiment with two setllers, one doing the food and one manning the bar, see if it will get to 100% happines :-)

Resources don't bring in new settlers, happiness does. Also, food and water are shared between settlements with supply lines. If you have enough total food and water production in your supply network, happiness will not decrease at settlements that produce none. Also, happiness will not decrease unless a settlement also has no food or water stored in the workshop.

My beacon is powered on. My settlement is the Castle. I did read that settlers like little things like lighting and decoration so thats what I did. I never knew that you had to move around settlers because I focus on 1 settlement at a time, I'll go build a new one and start to seperate them.

Castle stayed in 4 pop. while all the others crows, so i dont think its good idea try to grow pop in there.

You don't have to move around settlers but having a lot of beacons active and moving them lets you build up one settlement really fast.

Well it worked out, 100% happiness with just two settlers, one's a farmer and the other manning the bar. Bingo.

Luck also plays a big part of getting new settlers to come around.

One of my play through only with 4 luck and I could not get more than 7 to join my settlements but on my last play through with both luck and charisma at 10 I have to turn off my beacons to stop from getting more than 20 in each one.

Luck is not a factor.

20 settlers is your max with a 10 charisma.

build a bar and some tables and chairs around it to raise happiness, which does seem to attract settlers faster

If you are going after the Benevolent Leader achivement, you want as FEW settlers as possible, as the things that make them happy are divided by the number of settlers. I had a maexed out settlement, sent everyone away but two and had the two remaining working a level 3 bar. It took a few in game days, but happiness went from 82 to 100.

With charisma being a big factor with the setller situation, items such as "sharp" armor and specific clothing could assist in that. If you're desperate enough, you could increase your charisma by typing player.modav Charisma #. (I don't know if using commands effect it or not, but it is a great way to make sure that you pass any charisma checks that could help you with getting more settlers)
