Beta access codes are for exclusive Betas. In other words, even if there is a Beta out right now, I highly doubt someone's going to give their code. Everyone is currently in 1.3.47 or something like that, or, like me, they rolled back to 1.2. something.

They only give beta access codes testers and official bethesda staff members to test a beta version before it's released publically to the steam servers.

hmm... then what is the point to show that option in the public game UI in Steam to the three millions of customers bought the game?

The beta tab is there for anyone willing to opt into the "public" beta, the one that will eventually become the live version, and it's also there so that the community can comment on it and give feedback to bethesda;
although, they're hardly listening to anybody for the most part when it comes to it being ready or not, they're actually willing to listen to their player base for once to help fix the various problems going on.
Hang on, do you mean the 'opt into beta' under settings?

still, I don't see the point to show an option to every user that is not possible to access now, but in the future (hopefully).

It's there so the people who Bethesda's granted beta codes can use it. It had to be incorporated somehow. I jus hate how its there for everyone to see, but unable to get.

yep, that is the point. It sounds like a bad commercial decision to irritate/confuse three millions of customers just to make things easy for a few insiders... oh well...

Anyone can opt for beta testing. There is currently no 1.4 version being tested, so there is no access at this time.

I think you are very confused.

I really believe you are a bit thick in the head because steam uses a standerdized layout for the properties. If you were clever enough to check every game you have you might have noticed that option is there for EVERY game... Put your best hat on and go complain on every forum that you can't get into beta because you can't figure out the UI.
And to check version of a game, basically you check the properties of fallout4.exe and check details, but seeing the cause of this confusion you'll probably only get more confused when you find the next button that might do something but doesn't.

you don´t Beta Acces codes.... they release beta updates and show you how to get in.... however there is no beta atm! :)

you dont need it for the overhauled survival. just leave the access code blank and click submit. it will say the beta code is invalid but then the update will begin.
