Elusive and pointless T-51?

So as usual I've reached level 10 or something and upgraded my old T-45 to a T-60 from Atom Cats. Great!

What about the T-51 though? It's like the stepping stone I always end up jumping over; I've never owned a full set of T-51! Here's an entire unique suit of power armor that I never play and it feels like Bethesda dropped the ball on this one.

Where do I even get a T-51 suit from? I know I can nab one from 35 Court early on but, I'd like to save that location to level 28 and pick up my X-01. Any ideas where I can grab a T-51 around level 10-15? Anyone know of a mod that modifies the loot tables to start spawning T-51 pieces much earlier?

When I tried to play the game on my last few playthroughs, I always got a full T-51 set. It was near the Church that Railroad uses, near the water. Just look for a barge or platform with lots of containers, I was always level 20+ though.

AFAIK there is no fixed spot for a T-51, but rather suits found in the wild will generate level appropriate parts, as you know from the lvl28 for the x-01.
My best guess for a full set would be the one in the container at the US Training Yard (if you haven't been there already). It's mostly a full set of the highest variant you're 'allowed' to find.
Best savescum before heading out and try it with a few different levels. Could be different everytime.

The girl that sells power armor parts in the atom cats base will almost always have 2 or more T-51 power armor parts for sale. Keep buying them from her.

there is a point east of sanctaury hills on a filed where you get power armor. just search in youtube how you get the power armour in 10 minutes. i think its a T 51

Thanks people. I got a good idea of where to start looking for t-51 bits and bobs. It's a bit late of course since I have a T-60 already but well, Bethesda just made the T-60 too bloody easy to get your breadhooks on. :)

In the end it really comes down to what the player thinks looks the nicest. A raider power armor will serve anyone as much use as the X-01 armor. I much prefer T-60 and raider power armor the most out of any set.

I found a complete set next to a wrecked Vertibird and some tank behind a security gate. It was right next to the river, close to the USS Constitution I think.

Honestly, I think the T51 is the best looking suit in the game, especially when painted Railroad black.

Checked all tipped locations and found nothing but t-45. ;( Bah. Guess level 13 just isn't enough for a T-51.

To vent my frustration I grabbed my T-60 and went down to Quincy to blast some gunners. Found bosses "Tessa" and "Clint" who combined dropped an almost full set of T-51. Just missing a helmet now.

So that's lucky I guess. ;) Cost a fair bit of stimpacks and ammo though... High level bad guys.

Does Rowdy not sell T51 pieces in your game? I thought she always had them.

Most (maybe all?) of the Power Armor locations are scaled to your level (though there is an element of chance as well, a T-45 can still spawn even if your level is high enough for a T-51) so you don't want to go to the Power Armor locations early on. I think your level needs to be 22 before T-51s start showing up at the spawn locations.

The T51 was a useful upgrade to me because I found it before I ever went to see the Atom Cats. It all depends on how you play the game. Certain things end up getting bypassed based on where you go first.
