Animal Friend Question

Hey guys, I was wondering. With the Animal friend/wasteland whisperer/intimidation perks, what is the point of the level 3 command perk?
The reason I ask is because I got it with the idea that the things you shout down could follow you, and under commands there is indeed a follow. I had a raiders dog following me but as soon as I interact with anything, eg crafting/hacking, all the things following you decides to just instantly turn on you and attack.
So what is the point of a command ability if actions cause them to turn on you and then can't be intimidated again.
Is there a mod or something that stops this?

It's the same thing for robot hacking.

I generally use it to send things exploring ahead and get it killed or blown to pieces, or incite them to attack everything around.

Robots can be shut down, too, which occasionally is helpful.
