Pip-Boy Dimmed
As stated.... My Pip-Boy is dim, and thus, difficult to read. I'm on a new system, and decided to play Fallout 4 again; thus, this is my first run through on this system, and the first time I've experienced this problem. I've been searching for resolutions, and there seems to be a general consensus that the fix is changing the Ambient Occlusion to HBAO+ (Ultra); though these were from 2016 to 2018, and 1 in 2019; so it doesn't seem to be a major problem any more; well... except for Me :(.

Unfortunately, that was already my setting. I tried bringing it down to SSAO then None; neither worked. I went back to HBAO+ but, of course, the problem persisted. I updated to the latest Nvidia Driver (v451.67); and again... no help.

I'm hoping someone may know of another solution to this issue. Oh... and due to another (completely different) issue, I not only Validated my game files; but I actually re-installed Fallout 4. Again... not for this issue, but still!!!

Side Note: The game isn't unplayable this way... just annoying. It feels like the battery in my Pip-Boy could die at any moment; but I can still see it!!!

So... any ideas?!? Advanced Thanx!!!

"I use a fairly dark ENB. So I tweaked my Pip-Boy's brightness with my Custom .ini. The text is nice and bright now, but the mini-previews are still pretty dark.
Pipboy brighten or dim intensity of display."

(Fallout4.ini or Fallout4Custom.ini)

I can confirm that this works. I had the same problem after coming back after 4 months. Found this a couple of days ago as well and had to adjust the values to my liking. You might have to do the same. I set mine to

Fallout4.ini

[Display]
fPipboyScreenEmitIntensity=1.7500
fPipboyScreenDiffuseIntensity=0.750
