The little boy Squire from the Brotherhood. *Beware Possible Spoilers*
So Curie and I have been travelling around a while doing duties for the Brotherhood. Then, to my surprise, Cpt kells asked me to do work-experience mission for a Squire, basically a boy who looks like 10.

First time I ever had this over years and several play throughs cos I just never much dealt with Captain Kells.

I thought, "This could be good- or bad! Let's try it!"

So found the boy.

"Ready to start out, kid?"

"SIR! YES YES SIR! HERE'S THE MISSION, SIR!"

It led right into Far Harbor somewhere. So took off with Curie and the kid following behind.

I do like the bits where trouble starts and the kid's like, "I'll LEAVE IT TO YOU, SIR!" and runs away to where it's safer or "ALL YOURS, SIR!" as he disappears into the distance as a Death Claw approaches!
It's kinda funny!

He handles some of the grimmer scenes quite well, just stares at the KIAs that I had to deal with.

Anyway, made it to far harbor. Now I and curie are overlooking the objective area - It's full of Supermutants in a factory. This isn't gonna be easy...

"I can't wait until we start firearms training!" shouts the kid again.

"Just stay back, kid, just stay well back and out of the way, And learn,"I say.

Brotherhood squires is the lowest rank in the brotherhood, being children, they're not allowed to participate in active combat. Instead they do menial tasks and labor in addition to education and future preparation in becoming soldiers. I also imagine they assist the knight they're assigned to much like the knights of old.

Occasionally they do participate in relatively safe field training exercises, as part of their education. One would think the scribes would accompany a squad in order to guarantee their safety, and yet comically, a child is sent out with only one member of the brotherhood (and one companion, if present) to an incredibly dangerous locations to clear out a location of feral ghouls, super mutants or synths. Still, over all I liked the quest (Leading by example) and the interaction with the scribe.

The fact that they brought literal children to a war zone in a blimp designed to host said war, is a war crime, and definitely part of why I hate them so very, very much. You can find their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ teddy bear and spaceship toys hidden up in the rafters.

You clearly don't know your history.
Boys were often trained into war from as early as 10-12 in ancient days. It was normal right until the 18th century where boys went on the battlefield playing the drums supporting the men or on Ships of the Line as cannons fired into eachother, just 200 years ago!

Now take into context a world where Mankind is on the brink of extinction you bet they will train kids almost as soon as he could walk to do the things of men. This is how strong men were made in times of difficulty.

And exactly the same will happen today if we ever fall into a cataclysmic end of the world scenario. Get as mad as you want- that's how it always is. Be thankful that in this case, it's just a game.

That Fallout4 Writer knows HIS history and it adds a great extra element to the game.

Cool made-up story, Bro.

They don't die.

Sounds like someone doesn't know how to remove essential tags from npcs.

With friendly fire they get killed by their own very often.

Pretty sure they never learned about the geneva and hague convention on war in 2280 something. Thermonuclear war and the laws of war can't be reconciled.
Some conflicts have child soldiers now, and in real life.
My issue with the BOS is that they are a satire/commentary on the Military Industrial Complex, where they look for new causes for war to keep the profits going. More akin to pirates, really. Even in real life history where the soldiers were allowed to pillage as part of their pay, you didn't have to buy your own armor, uniforms (okay, officers do) weapons and bullets.

Sounds like someone thinks I don't know about the killable children mod.
I choose not to use it. And you should have mentioned you used killable children instead of acting like it's part of the default game.

People play the default game? Why? Its terrible.

This simply isn't true. The Brotherhood would never be so reckless as to do that.

The Prydwen has a rigid frame supporting its envelope, rather than just relying on internal pressure like a blimp.

The Prydwen is a magic ship. No way could air displacement with helium, hyrdogen or even a vacuum support all the junk on board. The made of steel part? Yeh, right. That's gonna worlk

Well, they're not called the Brotherhood of Lightweight Aerospace Alloys. :steammocking:

Everything in the Fallout universe must run on wishful thinking and concentration, because absolutely no way any of that stuff floats.
DouglasGrave Dec 7, 2023 @ 3:12am
It essentially stays airborne thanks to the giant engines that they keep constantly running instead of landing it. It's why we have that coolant quest.
