Bug with the Bobi quest in Goodneighbor

This is the second time I have encountered this problem where I am supposed to meet Bobi the ghoul in that back alley in goodneighbor and she wont come out from behind the locked door that requires a key.
Now this is not the first time I have encountered this problem but I would love to know what it takes to get her to come talk to me.
I solved this problem last time by flying with a jetpack over the wall and dropping outside diamond city and clipping through the wall so I could reach her door.
Is this the only solution? Why is this quest always difficult to progress?

were you asked to talk to her? there should be a Misc side quest "Talk to Bobbi"

I don't know if you could initiate the quest by just walking there, someone should tell you and start the quest afaik.

First: never, ever noclip to reach something that is required to be triggered in another way. you will break your game.

Second: She doesn't come out, until her final quest starts... She's IN goodneighbor, and should never be anywhere else, until the end of it.

What dialog options is she giving you? Have you looked up on the fandom site your quest and its stages? And the bugs therein?

I have the quest "speak to Bobbi" and the problem is she is behind a door that says it requires a key.
I didnt no clip it does that automatically when you fly over the wall.
What I am asking is where do I get that key and when does she come out to speak to me?
How is this quest supposed to work?
Like I said last time this happened I had to go through the outside wall and interact with the door sheis actually behind to get into where she is.
No I have not checked the wiki i started here in the forums for now.

you dont need to open the door, she must open up that little hole.. well that sounded a bit wrong.. the hole in the door i mean, and she will talk to you thru the door.

she opens up if you take the job

Ooh ok so how do i get her to open that doors slot? I guess i could try talking to the door.
Just getting close to the door didnt trigger anything but I could see her marker moving around back there.
I will try interacting with the door and door slot next play session.

actually she should have done that when you first approached.

but there is another quest taking place there, silver shroud, you need to kill AJ there, if you've done that before maybe she had triggered once and you didnt notice

I did the shroud quest there and extorted the guy for a bunch of caps but I didnt kill them so the three just hang out there now.
I doubt them being there would bug the quest with Bobbi but I guess it's possible.
If i cant get Bobbi to talk to me next play session I will try killing them and see if that helps the Bobbi quest.

20 Meet Bobbi No-Nose I met Bobbi No-Nose in an alley in Goodneighbor and agreed to work for her. She hasn't told me much about the job.

you are stuck at stage 10, you can pass to 20 via console but you need to get that door open as well (since she was supposed to open up)

well.. save your game and try that;

setstage 22a07 20
in the console click at the door and type
unlock

and try to open it yourself, if cant then type
coc GoodneighborBobbisPlace

this will take you to inside..

This causes the same problems. When you do something you aren't meant to do - ie: this game doesn't let you 'fly' so you were in fact, noclipping - you didn't let the area load properly. I'd strongly recommend whatever you do, find a save from BEFORE you did ANY of that, to work with.

external > internal transition is handled different than you expect.

there is actually nothing behind the door there if you clip thru, internal location is somewhere else on the world and you get teleported by the door object.

so you have to use the door.

but in bobbi's case real door is behind the first door, you can clip thru the first but not the second. second one is a real door. that's why i gave you a coc command, its the interior location. in case outer door may stay locked and tcl command is not usually advised.. since it also affects other objects around you, things may fall out of the world and become lost sometimes.

using the console should be always your last resort. but after you described your problem i saw no other way to fix this, since there is not much thing to do, what else can you do other than approaching the door to start it?

Goodneighbor is considered an interior area just like Diamond City's marketplace and many locations in Nuka World. They will break as if you just noclipped. Sometimes to the point of being game-crashing.

I told you I have done this successfully before, you can fly over the wall and stay within the boundary of good neighbor and enter bobbis house from the other side of the locked door
