Hey man I'm getting the same issue, I suspected one of my mods, most likely a texture pack but now I'm not so sure. I'm crashing right as I approach the hatch to enter the ship. It may be the DLC...

The game could have not installed part of the map there correctly. So when the game calls on it it crashes. For example the captain (forgot his name) files might be missing or curropted so the game can't load him

If you have any map or UI mods they will clash with the DLC

If you are on BETA rollback to the previous version then try again. If it still crashes at that exact place then you have mods that are altering something. Most of the times though it has nothing to do with textures. Use LOOT to sort your mod list then try again if problem still persists try an earlier save if that also fails then diable any robot and interior altering mods as these are likely conflicting.

Tried all mentioned clues but problem is still alive. I´m using mods and disabled UI´s but I´m unsure if some others are responsible.
Here´s a list of my active mods (used with NMM). Maybe there´s one effective to the ctd.

True Storms
Better Settlers
Simple Intersection
Well Rested 24H
Wolf100 (standalone Radio)
betterpatrolman
functionalrings
and some standalone weapons (those you can buy from vendors, I even don´t know how to open the console)

FO4 game data is verified, I don´t know if I use a BETA, just bought it at release date.

I get 60fps practically everywhere, but if I go to the USS Constitution (After it launches onto that building) fps drops to 20 unless I look at the ground or the Sky. Something about that ship just kills fps. I bet that area uses a ton of VRAM and your graphics card tried to use a page file or something.

GC is Radeon R270 3GB, game displayed graphics at ultra. I doubt my GC is the problem ;)

Hmm. It's definitely not your VRAM then, I have 3GB as well. Are you sure you don't have the R9 280? the 270 doesn't have a 3GB version. The next most likely issue would be drivers, especially with AMD. Do you still get the crash if you lower the settings? (Turning Nvidia settings completely off, etc.)

This time I disabled any Mods and set graphics to Medium without AA or AF... same result = CTD. To my mind, last cause is the DLC which is a pity

Im getting the exact same crash on nearing the boat.

I went back to previous saves before I finished the dlc and the crash did not occur. However, after the mechanist mission the game crashes.

At least for me, wearing power Armour eliminates the crash. But if I exit the power armour near the boat, the crash occurs.

It happens regardless of movement. It crashes on fast travel. and it also crashes when simply nearing the boat by walking.

I found the problem. Or at least, I found out what people are talking about this crash(the crash is related to automaton and ui mods.

Apparently it's caused by a map icon popping up of the mechanist lair and being incompatible with UI mods. downloading County Crossing Crash Fix (Automatron) by th1nk on nexus has fixed the crash for me.(search on google)

I guess power Armour ui is different enough from character ui so much so that the crash did not occur.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR THIS. It was immensly helpful. And once again i feel bad for the console users who just can't complete the quest now.

Thank you KSD, the Country Crossing Crash Fix worked for me, too. It replaces the M-Logo by a Vault icon and solves ctd.
I really hope that I don´t have to start a new threat after DLC no.2 but as I know it´s just an inventory upgrade.

County Crossing Crash Fix does nothing for me. Is there a certain position it should be put in in the load order to work properly? Also, I have not discovered any mechanist locations yet near County Crossing/USS Constitution, so might that have something to do with it?
