"Feeding the troops" quests for BOS trader.
I read up a lot on the pros and cons of doing these quests. Remain undecided.
Do I give up some of my settlements or not? There appears to be contradictory views on the implications involved.

I've pondered this too, however since Proctor Teagan keeps giving me the SAME settlement over and over again to go and harass - Somerville Place - I've stopped caring.
I just feel sorry for that poor family on the farm constantly getting bullied into giving over their crops - it's not as though it's even that big a farm. Maybe Teagan has a gripe against them.

I'm sure it's a bug that he keeps giving me the same place.

He has given me the first quest to "secure Greentop Nursery at all costs."

i've always been of the opinion that radiant quests are pointless...

Well that one seems the most pointless as it's literally "talk to the settler, use persuade dialogue, he agrees reluctantly, you bugger off". Takes all of 1 minute.

You can get the settlement back if you want. you "just" need to kill all the settlers. Then its your settlement again.

Seems pretty heartless really. I think I'll skip that...I have plenty of settlements elsewhere and resources.. no real need for a piddly one like this and I'm a compassionate person. lol

This is the best answer. There are no pros. Although the only 'con' is that you don't benefit from the settlement which, depending on how much you enjoy settlement management, might not be a con at all.

^^ They're not pointless if you want caps and XP though. But yes pointless in terms of being rather tedious.
Metro Mar 25, 2016 @ 9:49am
Yeah they're a nice cap/xp boost. Sort of like generic Diablo-esque quests. That's mostly how I play the game now since I'm not a fan of the main quest. Especially hate that you have to use Dogmeat to find Kellog.

Basically you are being made into what you should be trying to fight against. You are going in there and using the threat of lethal force to make the Settlers give you the product of their labor, something which they might need for their own survival. There is no way to support this type of immoral behaviour.

I think I will go to the said settlement then send everyone, bar one, to another settlement, then do the quest. (if this is possible)

Only in one of all my playthroughs did this radiant quest work properly. Teagan gave me a different settlement to go to each time. I thought I would be clever and give him all the settlements he wanted so that Preston would not be able to give me his quests for those.

I did 12 and these were now BOS settlements. After 12 Teagan sent me to Oberland over and over again. However when I got Preston out of Concord and his quests started, he gave me quests for those BOS settlements, except Oberland, and they all worked and became MM settlements. Disappointing.
I always figured : Screw him. They work for me. Its not like you get a ton of caps anyway.

All these settlements belong to "you". Why would they find it a problem ? if the settlers are not happy, then tell them to stfu or gtfo back to the hole they crawled out from, plenty of other settlers to take their place. No short supply of them.
