Is there any reason to finish the main story?
I have been stuck at the part of the game were I have to choose witch faction I will finally side with. I cant make a choice because it seems like making any choice is bad. I wipe out 2/3 of the factions, losing access to their specials quests and benifits, and it seems I get nothing in return.

Is there any reason to proceed with the main story past this point? Should I just "pause" the main questline here and not continue it? I already have done all the endings just to see them, but I have not made any "official" yet

How are you asking whether you should finish the main story or not when you claim you've already beat the game multiple times?

I haven't done the minutemen or the institute yet. currently cant do minutemen until I get the option because preston wont talk to me XD All I know is that I reeeaaallly disliked having to kill off some of my favorite companions because I couldnt make peace between everyone

Skip the main story completely and do a genocide run

Ya, I'm confused as well. If you've "done all the endings" then you would know that the game doesn't end like it does in NV or pre-Broken Steel in F3. You would also know that if you take the side of the Minutemen, while helping the Brotherhood/Railroad a little bit, then you have access to those three factions, but not The Institute, which isn't much of a loss as they don't really offer much imo.

Depends on what you are playing for I suppose. If you want access to all the radiant quest then I guess not. If it is a story decision then refusing to choose seems like a legitimate enough to me as you are using meta knowledge anyway.

The Minuteman ending allows you to end with peace between all 3 surface factions. There is NO 4 way peace ending possible. Minuteman is most peaceful. Railroad or BOS hate each other but are neutral to the Minutemen. Institute requires killing off Railroad AND BOS. Not sure if you have to kill off the Minutemen for Institute ending, but I don't think so. Wasn't necessary in the one Institute playthrough I saw, but then that person never built up the Minutemen at all.

There's no happy ending in this game unfortunately. Unless you don't like your own kids.

I was counting the Minutemen as a "minor" faction, with the other 3 being the big 3. I know there is no 3 way peace between those, but I dont think there is a two way peace either. Even if you complete the main story with the minutemen, and wipe out the Institute, there is still a potential Minutement quest to wipe out the Bortherhood. Now you might say, "Just dont do that quest". But if I'm going to ignore one quest to avoiding wiping out the Brotherhood, why not also ignore the other quest to avoid wiping out the Institute.

I think finishing the game for one of the factions should give you signifigant benifits from that faction you would not get otherwise.

It's Fallout. There is no truly "Happy" ending ever. You always have to choose a side, and that side is always flawed. Although I would say that the Minuteman ending is the closest you will get in Fo4, since you can achieve peace between 3 of the 4 factions.

Although I have to say that the Minuteman story line easily the buggiest of all the story lines. the strangest bug is Glory being alive and walking around the Railroad HQ but you not being able to interact with her. You also lose access to Desdemona, as after a certain point you can't interact with her either. It is also most difficult to get "properly" since the true 4 way ending with you having access to all 3 surface factions is a real tightrope walk of doing exactly the right missions. You can always just skip the BOS missions, but you will lose access to them and they become just "window dressing" after that point.

The minutemen will only destory the brotherhood if you choose to make them your enemy. So it's not really ignoring a quest as it will never turn up unless you attack the brotherhood.

Remember that there is post-game content. With checkpoints belonging to the winning faction appearing, and Diamond City having representatives and flags from your chosen faction.

For instance I have Gen 1 synths and Institute flags in Diamond City, and Synth checkpoints around the world.
