Standard Barrel X+ mod, what is it?
So, I have an option for a Standard Barrel X+ mod for Missile Launchers, which requires no mats, but Gun Nut 3... Never seen it before the Automatron DLC...

Not using any game mods...

Anyone know what it's all about as it has the exact same stats as the standard single barrel, but like I said, requires Gun Nut 3 and no materials?

it's because you have the modification on you so it's free just like weapon mods

Means you have that mod in the workshop and there are no material requirements. The "standard barrel modx+" indicates that you have upgraded and that mod is now in the workshop... but it is useless.. the base weapon, any type comes with "standard" anything.

It is useful, for example, to have a 4-barrel-missile-tracking-mod in the shop because then you can upgrade your launchers.

Ummm... Sorry, but no... If I had the single barrel mod in storage, I'd have the option to attach the single barrel (which I do) when selecting the single barrel mod itself...

The Standard Barrel X+ mod appears at the bottom of the list, below the Quad Barrel mod, and though it requires no resources, it does require Gun Nut 3...

If it's appearing simply because I have the standard barrel in storage, why on earth would it require Gun Nut 3?

So no, it's not simply because I've got the standard barrel mod in storage, there's something else going on, not to mention it only appeared with the Automatron DLC...

Its a bug caused by putting your weapon mods in Workshop and linking your settlements with provisioners. Some of the mods got turned into "X+" because of this.
They have exact same stats as normal mods but they block you from using the non X+ version of the mod

For example if you have option to attatch X+ short barrel and you decide to build regular Short barrel .. it will consume the materials but it will attach the X+ instead and every time you try to attach non X version it will still consume materials.

PS: This happens over time probably tied to cell reset or something else idk?
But when you remove all your weapon mods from workshop and put them back in again
all the X+ mods will vanish when you try to mod your weapon again and everything is back to normal.

so YES i'm 100% sure its a glitch.

I didn't describe it very well yes you can still build the standard mod when you have X+ in your mod selection but it will always consume materials

Try having a X+ mod and try to build its regualr version then unequip it from the gun and try to equip it again .. you will be prompted to build it again , like the mod vanished or something

Nope that is not it, I got zero provisioners! I also got the mods of a lot weapons getting the X+ on them anyway!

Yes that is it you probably had some loose weapon mods stored in your workshop and you forgot about them and they glitched out. And now everytime you use workbench to mod your weps you see the X+ mods

EDIT:
I didnt word it correctly but Provisioners themselves dont trigger the bug.. they just spread it to another workbench in linked settlement but if you had no provisioners but you did put random loose mods in your workbench or workbenches .. they will glitch after a time.

Oddly enough i never seen this happening with custom weapons from mods. Only vanila

This is an old thread but I just got this for the first time last night.

To add to this, I can attach this purchased mod for free, the. Reattach the old mod, and it DUPLICATES the mod with the X+! I have a Charging Barrels X+ mod I can duplicate as many times as I want… not calling it a glitch, but it’s a glitch.
