[Spoilers (Automatron)] has anyone built an Eyebot Pod?
Hi all,

So, I built one of these Eyebot pods last night without having a clue what it did. I realised quickly that it allows me to send an Eyebot off to look for a specific resource. Nice.

As I'd literally just totally run out of Ceramic, I decided to test things. Eyebot Zooms off (flying really quite high, rather than skimming the ground) then pauses in various locations. I must have waited for about 20 mins and said Eyebot was still buzzing around - spending 90% of its time stationary, one assumes scanning or something. I get bored so decide to sleep.

I wake, get a message that my Eyebot has found something and marked it on my map. I head to the location (not easy, Super Mutant base, huge fire-fight lol) and walk up to the marked container (a desk) to find a veritable hoard of Ceramic...erm, no just two pieces lol.

So, likely a "realistic" actual discovery rather than having ceramic spawned purely for this new game mechanic, but equally rather underwhelming considering the several in-game hours the search took. I had hoped the Eye bot would do the scavenging its self, possibly returning with say 25 Ceramic or something - I'm sure there's a hidden arm in that shell somewhere!

Seems this technique is largely worthless for any item the player may need in bulk, but possibly useful for very very rare stuff maybe.

Anyway, just thought I'd share my experiences, I do plan to experiment further.

Scoob.

There's a schematic to build the eyebot pod in the Mechanist's Lair

It seems like the eyebot is completely useless if it does nothing more than show you where a resource already is on the map. Resources that you'd probably come across in sufficient quantities anyways simply by exploring and looting.

That is not completely useless: ANTIFREEZE

has anybody ran into a robot they had as a companion and then when u try to dismiss it the menu wont pop up with setlement names to send it to basicly forcing you to selfdestruct it if u want to get rid of it :(

or when you build a robot at a settlement then when u want to asign it u dont get option... u can only select it wich picks the robot up and u can move it around and drop it again and a scrap option wich is grey'ed out and not able to be selected ?

I haven't built one yet, but if all they do is point out stuff you can find on your own without trouble, then they are pretty useless.

I assume you need a upgrade to create and eyebot companion. I keep finding upgrades on dead bots.

I've just had them gather up cannonballs...You'll get FAR more than trying to get them from merchants. Oh, and Nuka Grenades too.

the way you use your eyePod schematic is you go to your settlement open your build option and it'll be under special and it needs 6 power

I came across the same problem, two ceramic. Ever since then, I've been using it to build up a stockpile of Nuke Grenades/Mines.

Yeah, I'm starting to realise just how dissapointing they are for finding materials... I sent one out looking for Fibre Optics...

In the time it took the Eyebot to have looked around the south-east of Sanctuary, only as far south as Sunshine Tidings, I had already flown via Vertibird to, and cleaned out, 4 different hospitals looking for microscopes, not to mention visiting the Prydwyn for more Vertibird grenades, and even flying back to Sanctuary to dump all the junk I collected...

The Eybot Pod is really becoming quite underwhelming...

omg.... you mean the eyebot DOESN"T fetch? i thought it was an automated thing that would help you find a few extra fusion cores, or some extra ammo.

if I have to go and get the fool stuff myself,I dont need the eyebot. =(

Basically the eyebot pod is just a fetch quests generator. It's under "special item" in the crafting menu.

As most pointed out already, It's in the Mechanist's Lair.
