Help (DLC Question)
So, I just built the robot work bench and I'm supposed to install the "Radar Beacon" on Ada but the only category is "legs" and I don't see anywhere to do it? Am I doing something wrong?

You did selected Ada didn't you and not "New Automatron" by mistake? If you did the latter, you may only have limited parts available, but with Ada she's already assembled so should be moddable as needed.

Sorry I can provide anything else, I'd didn't have issues with this step.

I selected ada. There just simply is no option to install a radar beacon.
The only thing I can mod is the legs...

Talk to her again. You have to talk to her, make the workshop and then talk to her again (even if you've already made it before she asks you to make one).

Already did that and I told her that i'm ready to install the beacon and then the quest marker tells me to go the bench.

The only options given when I try to talk to Ada is "self-destruct" and "disable personality" along with dismiss and nevermind.

Most odd the option to install the Beacon thing is usually in the first section - "special" or something like that.

Seems you've fallen foul of a glitch, but I'm unaware how to possibly recover from it. Have you tried the usual fast travelling away (a long way ideally) waiting and allowing the cell the reset? Seems daft, but I'm not sure what else might help. Sometimes waiting / sleeping fixes glitches, as does saving, exiting the game totally before re-launching and re-loading, but I suspect you've tried that already.

Possibly a mod causing this unexpected side effect?

No mods installed and I've tried restarting the game. After reading your post I tried waiting and fast traveling and nothing. I even tore down the existing robot bench and built a new one and still nothing.

Is the radar beacon a item that shows up in your inventory? Because I been looking and I don't seem to have it even though I know I picked it up from the robobrain at general atomics to continue the quest line.

Going to go back there and look around and see if it's somehow there... if not then I just give up. :(

EDIT; Found the robobrain I defeated at General Atomics and it's body is empty like I expected.

Would you like to .zip and upload your saved game somewhere? I'll give it a try and see if I have the same issue. If I don't, then verifying your game cache might be worth while - might be worth doing it regardless as this is an odd issue.

I never actually checked whether the Beacon showed up in my inventory or not, I remember picking them up and installing them without issue, so never had to look any further.

Here it is if you'd like to give it a shot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vqimldscbm095is/nobeaconsave.zip?dl=0

I'll go ahead and verify my cache and try again.

Tried your saved game, travelled back to Sanctuary and I have the same issue. Going to play around for a bit to see if I can get things to work...

Appreciate it. Thanks! I'll do the same.

Had same problem. Tried everything.

Got it to work by building a new station and shooting ida until she was downed, then using a repair kit on her. I think it was the latter that did it. Hopefully that works for others too.

Nice. Lol, I just did the same and can verify it works! Been trying to post for several minutes, but keep getting an error *sigh*

Holy crap. That actually worked!

Thanks to both of you. Much appreciated! Was dreading having to start all over.

wow thats awesome work guys lol.

Glad it worked for you too! Not sure what glitch caused Ada to break in this way as she was showing no physical signs of damage - then I've had her loose a leg in combat, only to recover from it once I've dealt with the enemy. I suspect maybe she had some hidden damage, that only this method of forcing the need to a repair, rather than the usual companion auto-recovery, fixes.

Enjoy!
