(Spoiler) How do I follow the Freedom Trail?
So I listened to these two guys in Diamond City and got the Quest "Follow the Freedom Trail", after that I went to the marker and there is the beginning of some kind of code on the ground and a sign with blue text.. I read the text and talked to the tour-guide robot and now I know I have to find some kind of lantern? But I don't know where I'm supposed to go next, is this lantern somewhere nearby or do I need to roam through the whole city to find it? I know I have like 200+ hours but thats the first time I wanted to do this quest-line and all I know is, that it leads to the railroad. So not so many spoilers please..

Freedom Trail is physically there if you look around...you were at the starting point, should be easy to figure out.

yup, it's physically drawn... you'll hit yourself when you figure it out, like i did!

There's a painted line at the beginning on the ground that leads you down the path, it breaks every now and then but it's not hard to find where it links up again.

Just be careful, parts of it lead to kinda deadly area's if you're just starting out.

SPOILER ... sPoiler ... SpoiLER ...

in case you have trouble figuring it out, do like Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ ... follow the yellow brick road ...

... or the red brick road.

Also, check out each manhole cover as you follow it. They are the key to a fairly simple puzzle you'll need to solve at the end.

Ok, I will try that thanks..
OK, you need to look at the first marker, then it'll "mark" areas to follow. It took me 2 play throughs to find out about this since I just mostly explored/found the place by accident.

you don't have to follow the trail. Just go to the destination. Won't give that out unless you want a real spoiler.

Holy crap, it's a real thing! OK, that does explain why it ends where it does. I realized where I was when I saw that statue, seen it in pictures many times.

Geez. I got to the Commons and found the first one, when I clicked to Examine the marker, nothing happened. I know where the next one is as I ran into it accidently, wandering around. Nothing happened when I examined that marker either.

It doesn't matter. Once you reach the Old church where the RR HQ is and go inside, the quest will start to find the RR.

In other words, you really do not even have to follow the freedom trail at all. Once I found out where it was, in other play runs, I just swim to the back entrance and go there from the docks. Much closer.
