FO4 mods I should avoid?
Has anyone come across mods on Nexus that I should avoid?

I've been playing on PS4 until just recently, but now I want to explore FO4 the same way I did FO3/NV... modded the ♥♥♥♥ out. My worry is that I missed all the earlier discussions about which mods to avoid. If you've come across any mods that break the game, or where two mods directly conflict, I'd really appreciate your comments.

(I should add I just started a playthrough as Frank Castle with about 75 mods installed, with no CTDs at all so far. This has not been my experience in the past, so I'm hopeful mods are already working great for FO4.)

Thanks. Hope you're enjoying this game as much as I am! :steamhappy:

Nexusmods > Fallout 4

Anything that has a NMM package should be safe to play with, mainly because they are easily uninstalled and tracked.

I steer away from scripted mods when its early in the development and in this case Fallout 4 modding is definately early with no GECK and only like 2nd release of FoSE script extender.

Stay away from mods that allow you to remove pieces of the terrian in Settlement Locations and also steer away from "clean-up" mods on settlements.

The real issue with modding is that for the most part most of you will be placing your trust into an individual based entirely on "the cool idea".

In Skyrim there are tons of mods that are "cool idea's" but over time it got out that they were in fact horribly bad mods.

See Crimson Tide, for such an example....Most recently withen last 5 to 6 months I had an individual defend this mod and declare that I didnt know what I was rambling on about despite the fact that it is well known to cause the game to break....All based on "well why would it get so many thoasands of endorsements?"

The reality is that I have the skills to open the contents of mods look over how they work and to some degree make a much better determination than most end-users. Thats not something you will be able to do and its not something I have the time for either so best advice......

Check the comments pages and delve back many many pages.

Dont install a lot of mods all at once, more often than not if just one mod is bad you wont figure out which one of the 100 mods you installed is the specific culprit (besides the fact that it could just be 2 mods that are incompatible >< )

Thanks, this is really good advice. Maybe I'll save my mod playthrough for later. Hopefully someone makes a Dr. Doom armor and weapon mod in the meantime.

The safest mods you can get right now are retextures, standalone weapon/armor mods, and enb. Any other kind of mod is likely to break saves when they are updated with the GECK.
