Whats a good weapon against robots?
I like using live ammunition weapons - especially automatic rifles

but I realized those arent the best against robots

so I konw this is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid question but

are gamma rays effective against robots?
how about lazers? are they more effective against robots than live ammunition?

Fatman FTW!!!!
Robotics expert, just hack them and they can't even battle back.
You will also need it for some Robot mods

I have a nice 'mean' combat shotgun that I got from a Legendary Protectron at Gunners Palace, that has the "Explosive Legendary" bonus. With mods added, base damage is 237. It chews thru robots, radscorpions, mirelurks, super mutants, even death claws, like a hungry man at a buffet.

Forgot to add, because it also have a silencer on it. I also get the sneak attack bonus. Thus far my highest bonus was 5.3x. Normally kill anything with 1 shot, sentry bots sometimes take 2. mirelurk queen and behemoths take 3, sometimes 4. Raiders are just snackfood for this weapon. Normally able to kill raiders and gunners 2, 3 up to 5 per shot. If they are grouped close enough.

Gamma rays don't affect robots at all. Lasers are OK, but plasma rifles are better. The trouble with plasma is that the ammunition is scarce.

Found a Troubleshooter Minigun last night.

Just in time for the DLC, it seems...
Anything with high damage really. My sneaky sniper just about 1-shots sentry bots with a sneak attack.

I'm using the Spray n' Pray machine gun with +15 explosive damage. Got it really early in the game but lack of ammo and the splash damage against companions made me not use it until now.

Now that I have the perks to make companions immune to my damage, increase explosive and automatic weapons damage, it is tearing through the legendary robots like butter.

Try that with a combat shotgun with mods added on. The "Spray & Pray" is good, but base damage is way low. 15, up to 31 I think. My gun I aim at the floor, blow their legs off. That spot at the end, the robots overhead, I was killing them before they could drop. Made that part super easy.

After Midnight I use Nocturnal Shotgun, DMG-350.

Pulse Grenades/mines are ok, but I prefer sneak & hack shutdown then sneak attack with Kremvh's Tooth for 12x bonus...
