Unlock elevator at RobCo factory in Automatron?

When I try to activate the elevator, it just tells me it isn't working right now. I messed with the nearby terminal to no avail, and have run all through the place about five times now looking for a way to cancel the lockdown. Am I missing something obvious?

You can only end the lockdown and use the elevator after you've beaten the Mechanist . This involves several choices, and I can only talk about the one I made. I chose to let Isabel Cruz live . Following this, I had to talk to her a couple of times. One dialogue resulted in her giving me the password to the mainfarme, which removed the lockdown and activated the elevator, and the other resulted in me getting all possible robot mods . You have to pass some charisma checks to do what I did. I've no idea what happens if you kill her .

Thanks, guys. I should've realized sooner LOL. I missed one of the wall consoles and thought that elevator was how I had to progress to the next section. Obviously, I was just being dumb.

That's wrong. There are three holotapes hidden within the facility (Chief Scientist's Holotape, Facilities Director's Holotape and the Head Engineer's Holotape). Collect all three and play them in the terminal for a manual overide, which leads you straight to the Mechanist, withought having to kill all the robots.

Others have explained how to get down through the elevator, so I won't bother repeating it, but consider this. On the way down, and including the showdown, there are about 100 robots to kill, maybe more. If you bypass it, you won't get any of the kill XP, which if you have Idiot Savant can be quite a significant amount.
