Glowing Sea protection - hazmat suit or mysterious serum?

I am trying to decide which of these two radiation protections to use.
The hazmat suit gives 1000 radiation protection but no physical protection.
Pointless travelling there radiation free then being killed by a death claw.
I have one serum which apparently lasts for an hour but is this a real time or game time hour which is not very long?

Unless you're using some kind of mod that ups the radiation you can easily get by using rad-x and rad away without power armor or any special suit. I don't even use power armor in my survival playthroughs. Radiation is fairly trivial there -- 6 rads down to 1 with rad-x and maybe 3ish by the Crater of Atom.

Power armor of course! The Glowing Sea is the only spot I ever used my power armor. There are so many bad things in the Glowing Sea, that wearing a hazmat suit with less than stellar stealth is an invitation to be someone's lunch. :-)

Except that requires a mod. Vanilla hazmat suits do not take ballistic weave.

Managed to complete the quest in my hazmat suit. Only problem was killing those flying wasps.
