Drinking Buddy To A Settlement? Escort?

If I want to send the drinking buddy to one of my settlements do I need to escort him there? Can I command him to go to a settlement and then just leave him to go there on his own?

Any replies with some elaboration on the process will be appreciated!

You don't have to follow him, just be warned:
- He can die
- He can get stuck
-The quest won't complete until he's brought to the hotel

If you bring him to the hotel:
- If you don't escort him to the hotel you can't finish the quest

Albeit, it's possible to just fast travel somewhere and wait for him to get there since the game doesn't get the chance to process certain events

I've found that if you escort something/someone they will get killed because you're there to spawn the enemy

Whenever I get the drinking buddy I fast travel to Sanctuary and sleep, then when I wake up; he's there

You can move him around settlements, but you don't get an option to send him to the hotel unless you do it in the first place. Once he's been sent to Santuary, I lose the ability to send him anywhere but to a different settlement. (same results in 2 seperate games) so I can't finish the optional part of the quest and it stays open.

Thank you gentlemen/ladies :) I can live with the open quest in order to send him to my main settlement. If that is price of keeping him, so be it.

On my first play through I came across him before I had the quest and did not know what I wanted to do with him, so I left him. Then when I went back it never mattered what I did or said he would not leave the basement. I think he said he was traveling to the hotel but never moved from the basement.

The next time I come across him in a new playthrough I want to make sure I don't blow it.

40 beers a day my castle is a party place, don`t know how to change the beer though, I have the different recepies but can`t work out how you get a different brew. I still get the option to send him to the hotel too.

ya, one of the few quests i just did with console commands... set him as being essential(can't die), sent him to a settlement, completed the quest with commands. i like cold beer and wanted him around lol

If you pick up more recipes, take them to him and start a conversation dialog. You will get a choice to give them to him and in a short while he will start making the new brews too.

Also, he will chill any drink you trade to him. Nuka Cola becomes Ice Cold Nuka Cola etc :)

I never can finish this quest its like it wants me to do all 3 options.

I think it's daft that you can't finish that quest. I mean, it's a simple choice really - you either keep him and forego the XP/caps you would have earned from delivering him to the hotel, but then have a cute robot around your settlement who gives you constant free drinks. I know I'd rather keep him, he adds a bit of character to the place.

Yes I have the other recepes but I dont get an option and I never thought of adding drinks to cool them thanks will check this again. I thought it best to keep him as long as the option stays to send him to the hotel I can give him back when I become alchoholic lol.
