I strongly prefer to see nothing at all on my HUD under normal circumstances, and not to get info about enemy health, own stats, ammo, hit marker, xp messages, or other stuff. I'm using Def_UI mod https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/10654/ which you can relatively easily temper to your liking, for me the best UI mod.
I used iHUD before I changed to Def_UI, it's a very good mod and even easier to use than Def_UI. Don't know why it does not work for you. How did you install? Did you install HUD Framework mod? iHUD needs it.
FallUI - HUD I feel is definitely the way to go, so modular, so simple, just turn on edit mode on the lower left, go to assault tab, tag the name/health bar, click advanced... you can have it so no name or bar, but still shows legendary and red skull over-level danger... the settings for everything on your HUD are quite granular, size position transparency for just about everything, even 3d effects. I'd get FallUI Confirm Boxes and Inventory too, at least. But that's me. (the modern repack of Def_UI includes HUD and INV as one, as well, and it's fine if you like the presets. It's not apples/oranges it's tangerines/clementines)
I hope like Cere points out, you just don't know where to look for it, once it's installed and enabled, just hit Esc and your top option will now be "MOD CONFIG" which pops up MCM and every mod with an MCM menu entry gets listed alphabetically... this is ALL MCM things regardless what UI mod you went with.
Note is the display name and the actual name are independent... case in point, if you have FlashyJoeR's Crime and Punishment installed, it'll show as "Crime and Punishment" on the menu, but be sorted down in the Fs, between FlakJackets and FleshyFerals (both made up) not up in the Cs... annoying, that, but you can rename the display name if this triggers your OCD. (renaming the actual name might cause you problems if it interacts with other mods, which probably requires multi-mod editing.)
* You have to have the game running and alt-tab out, because Vortex uses hardlinks that don't exist til the game is run, and be glad you're not running MO2, because that's even more annoying, MSVFS access is per-process, so while the running Fallout4.exe can see it, your explorer.exe cannot... you have to verify it from either trusting the load order overrides or using the Explorer++ to mount the VFS and explore it that way...
