However the mod description pages on nexusmods contain a lot more info about installation so you could try just reading those pages to see if you have missed anything. That's likely the cause. i also just install the all-in-one version of ss2.
I use MO2 because i used it with Skyrim. i find it simpler than the in-game method.
I have the game running smoothly. Last week I installed three new (to me) mods. Game crashed to desktop. Vortex has a feature where you can list the mods by date installed. I removed the three mods. Sure, maybe only one was causing the failure, but life is too short (in survival) to screw with mods that promise the world and cause you nothing but grief.
