Other than those two things, all we have gotten is speculation.
Just have fun finishing the game as it is.
You guys really think it's going to make the game a complete mess and not even improve it?
As for me . when or IF this ''update'' actually happens , I'm going back to Skyrim as I don't simply don't have the time and patience ( I'm a 60 YO ) to sort this game like I did with
Skyrim . I might reinstall this this game a couple of years from then ( the update ) assuming
I'm still alive to enjoy it .
I only have a couple minor mods to help turn the game into a survival game and ramp up the difficulty beyond vanilla limits. So it's just a vanilla experience for me, albeit a much more difficult one, because I enjoy the stealth sniper playstyle.
I just wish that bethesda one day get some UI/UX Designers on board and get rid of their engine. I could not care less if there are plenty of unnecessary movable objects in the game for persistence to be a reason for this garbage engine. If they would spend even 1/100 of the time putting random junk in areas to designing a proper user experience in their menus... it is so hilarious how StarUI gets a proper inventory within two weeks but bethesda is ridiculous unable to. Their menus are worse than stuff I experience back in the 90s. In my opinion their ignorance needs to get punished by critcs by -10% as long as they keep doing that ♥♥♥♥ on PC.
I really enjoyed Starfield, but damn neither Starfield, Fallout 4 or Skyrim are proper playable on PC with mouse and keyboard without mods. It is like devs want to just enoy us with their bad UIs. Like diablo 4 has proven too lately.
I was mostly interested in F4 looking better than before and get more fps etc, because I have upgraded to a monster 4090 PC since last time I played it on a 1080Ti, but I suppose their engine has limitations and my expectations may be unrealistic.
Perhaps it would be better to forget about their update and to restart my playthrough, but with a heavily modded setup instead, wouldn't really want to add more content in the game to water down the quality of the existing content (which the game has plenty of for a completionist like me) but I would probably like to smooth out the edges of most Bethesda gameplay mechanics and get in all the quality of life stuff etc, plus better visuals if possible since the game should really fly on this machine.
So, when Bethesda/Microsoft releases an update and breaks many of the FO4 mods, the authors might not be interested profit wise to fix their old FO4 mods.
And the Microsoft Business habit of forcing new releases that breaks 3rd party software is legendary.
I would bet you anything they are going to try their hardest to push ray tracing meme in it. But like what else is there?
Every script extender using mod will need to be updated to the new version.
It will pretty much be the same situation as the Skyrim SE/AE mess, but in Fallout 4.
You speak english, right?
A next-gen update is coming to Fallout 4! Coming in 2023, this free update will be available for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC systems, including performance mode features for high frame rates, quality features for 4K resolution gameplay, bug fixes and even bonus Creation Club content!

So I guess us on the PC won't really benefit much from the update? And if anything it will likely break stuff. I was looking forward to higher frame rates but I know that the game engine cannot handle any of it.
I also never played more than a couple hours of Skyrim and thought maybe I should give that a go when the SE came out. So I'm sad to hear that is a mess as well.
Wandering about. this means walking around aimlessly. Do you mean wondering about. Can you even be bothered to spellcheck and context check your post. And Oh, You People is quite offensive, please clarify and quantify what is meant by "you people"
This was the argument the last time someone brought this up: https://steamcommunity.com/app/377160/discussions/0/3811780955343238862/
People on this board seem to be taking the word "update" literally, and they tried to shout down those of us who argued it might be a separate game entirely.
There is precedence to suggest Bethesda might have used the FO4 assets (or maybe even FO76) as a testing bed for their Starfield "Creation 2" engine upgrades.
That was the story as to why we got Skyrim SE, because they used the Skyrim assets to test the engine upgrades for FO4.
Some people in that thread even said the graphics wouldn't be updated. As if there was a point in calling it a Next Gen update if it wasn't aimed at Next Gen consoles with better graphics?
The primary argument seemed to be that they said it would be a free upgrade, so therefore it would be an update.
Except we also have precedence for that with Skyrim SE, which was free to PC players who already bought the original Skyrim.
As if it wouldn't be totally Bethesda to announce that they "regret" they couldn't make the upgrade free for consoles (or that it's an XBox exclusive!?), but it would be free on PC, and then sit there and watch people buy a copy of the game again while their money rolls in with minimal effort on their part.
The problem is, we apparently have very little information, and this is the internet where everyone can pull a rumor out of their *** and call it a source.
