Yes, i bungled up the +1/+2. Seems i actually has +3 since i use the Internal Database Mod for my helmet too. I love playing smart :)
Don't go for set bonus paint jobs. If one part is destroyed in combat, the whole bonus is gone. Ghouls love to destroy your leg pieces first. If you use more carryweight for those, it's gone upon destruction and can you leave slow and vulnerable in a hostile environment.
Better go for individual better protection, if you plan to fight in power armor.
I use X-01 thermal coating (best energy protection) for encounters with synths and explosive shielding for fights with gunners.
The -living target- upgrade for for the helmet is great for spotting hostiles that use stealth boys, btw.

Remember what Lucas Miller said, "pretty don't stop bullets". It's a single player game, no one sees what you wearing.

in survival mode shielding is the only paint i use, so i dont get killed from a single stray moly.
onyx paint looks nice at x01 (it was/is in the CC rotation for free sometimes)

Why institute paint? Intelligence doesn't seem to do anything. Charisma gets you better deals with traders. Titanium gives you more damage points. Intelligence? an extra try at hacking? Useless.

Why can't you paint it Army and arrest the BOS for high treason? Nope. You can carry more junk...
Carry more junk? Suddenly I understand Army Paint.

Prism shielding should be better than thermal coating for energy resistance, unless you've got the chrome plating from the Creation Club, which is another step up.

I wouldn't worry about Charisma either. Unless you plan to live permanently in your power armour, you can just wear Charisma clothing and get out when you want to trade.

By the time I get my first set of X-01 power armor I coat it with an energy reflective paint. When I get my first (early game) power armor I paint it with explosive resistant paint. But--especially if I'm going up against the Mechanist--I worry MUCH more about energy weapons than explosive. This is doubly true if I choose to fight him in his hideout, rather than sneaking up on him.

makes perfect sense.
On my early t45s I usually do explosive for each part also.
By the time I am in late game rocking T60 or even X-01 I add anti energy since I am more worried about the BOS or the synths.

I actually think the "white Knight" look of the white paint looks nice. All around me is constant reminder of thrash & rubble. The shiny 'cleanliness' of the White Armour is my go to.

And + 1 INT bonus is not much, and may not even be useful, depending on your character, but my default setup is 'Max Int + Max bonuses'. When i get a suit of X-01 i am nearing lvl 30 or so, and i dont really need any paint at all. The X-01 is by itself superior, if you have a steady hoard of materials needed for repairs.

It's just me, but after so many years of trying out almost everything, i favour the Fast Leveling Strategy via the INT route. And every point of Int is pure Gold. Especially on Survival where kill XP is also doubled.

And as Dan said, CHA is better served underneath. I stopped wearing Armour under PA several years back. I like having 6 (7) CHA on my character and Charisma gear for + 4, and i normally do not trade when in PA. I step out. Cant recall trading in the midst of gunfight. - except maybe the ambush that spawns the first time you trade with Carla if close to the Diner?

The game will show you the benefits of each paint set, as you hover over.
I grabbed the Orange paint from CC when it was free, just for Keks. :steamhappy:

Roling Stones. :)
You have to join the Railroad, and use a T51 to paint it black though.

That's convincing. I was asking myself why combat armor while in power armor just a little while ago. I was doing it because what if my PA was shot to bits? I could still defend SS while in combat armor. Then it hit me, when did that ever happen? Oh, a hour after never
Know any good white PA paint? Cuz I don't play the institute anymore. Shaun should be spanked, and owes SS for 60 father's days. these Enclave paints are nice, but need white.

US army paint would be good too, if it was spiffy and allowed you to order the BOS out of the commonwealth or they would be charged as terrorist.

I gave up on the Mechanist just shoot her in the back. I don't need the loot.
