Strange in-game resolution issue
Hello ! Here's my problem : I just bought Fallout 4 after yeaaaars of waiting (until now i hadn't the machine for it). The game starts perfectly in the good resolution BUT... once i'm in game, the resolution is pretty strange : the borders of the image are cut. There is vertical black stripes on the left and right sides of the screen, so i cannot see the whole image. The weird thing is when i press escape, the menu IS in the good resolution ! (there is only IN-GAME resolution that is wrong).
My resolution screen is 2560x1440. I check a thousand forum and i modified the .ini files lines (the one in Documents/mygames/Fallout4 and the one in steamapps/common/Fallout4/Fallout4) in every way i can :

bTopMostWindow=1
bMaximizeWindow=1
bBorderless=1
bFull Screen=1
iSize H=1080
iSize W=1920

I tried every resolution proposed in the launcher and I also tried to plug an old 1920x1080 screen but the issue is still there.

I don't know what else i can do. I'm so frustrated !!! I've played every Fallout and I've waited so long for this one that I swear I won't be able to sleep until I fix this :'(
Please help !

PS : I'm french so sorry for my approximate english but at least, you didn't have to hear my accent ! ^^

Why are you setting the resolution to 1920x1080 if you have a 2560x1440 display? Set the resolution to 2560x1440, and everything should work perfectly. There's nothing special you have to do to get the game running properly at 2560x1440 or 3840x2160. It truly does just work. If you really can't get it to work, try using Bethini[www.nexusmods.com]- this is a utility that can optimize your .ini settings for you better than the official launcher. You can use it to comfortable adjust settings, such as resolution.

The last try i did was my old screen and I didn't set it back, but of course I tried with my native resolution first.
I will try Bethini ! Thanks for the tip !

Nope. I tried with Bethini but I still have the same black stripes on the sides of the screen :(

Are you sure you're using a 2560x1440 display? What does Windows say? When I right click on my Windows desktop and select Display Settings, it has a "Display resolution" header. Underneath that, there's a drop down menu set to "3440x1440 (Recommended)". The desktop and game should be set to the same value (the one Windows says is recommended).

You should probably also make sure that Fallout 4 isn't being run with any compatibility settings. Right click on Fallout4.exe, select Properties, and go to the Compatibility tab. It should be pretty much blank.

Finally, my monitor has a 21:9 aspect ratio, and it has some weird settings that are actually pretty cool. I can change the display's aspect ratio via hardware if I want a reverse letterbox effect, like you're getting. It's useful when I want to play older games that force a 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratio.

This is kind of a long shot, but you are you using third-party tools, like Mod Organizer 2 or ENB? Mod Organizer 2 uses a virtual filesystem, which makes configuration more complex, so you'd have to follow their instructions. ENB is sometimes configured to force a letterbox format. You'd have to follow their instructions to turn that off.

I'm probably one of the few people who never had any problems with OneDrive, but if you're using that, you might try disabling it. Also, since we're reaching at straws here, you might as well make sure your game isn't installed to "C:\Program Files". Put it in something like "C:\Games" instead. Windows automatically manages files in that directory, and you don't want Windows to manage your game files.

You are seeing the whole image, the black stripes are the part of the screen not utilized.

Ok, resized vs stretched image, can be configured in GPU drivers.

You will not benefit from this game at 2K either. 1K or 4K nothing in between. Set your desktop to 1920x1080, then run it.

WHat he said, Windows resolution and Fallout 4 resolution should be the same, it prefers it that way.

Actually I do have Mod Organizer 2 installed, but I absolutly don't know how it works (The computer I'm using is to a friend who went on a trip and left it for me in the meantime.). What could I do with it to fix my resolution problem ?
I have Mod Organizer 2 installed on my C: drive, so in my case it's-
C:\Modding\MO2\profiles\Default
you'll find a fallout4prefs.ini contained therin, you should be able adjust to fit from there. don't even need to mess with the vanilla game's ini files, that's why I'm running MO2.

I found the fallout4prefs.ini in the MO2 files and modified it, but nothing changes :(
