Vortex has mods. Just hold you nose and download..
"Human resources", won't get much more immersive into a lawless wasteland then that, could get some of the greenery mods I suppose, make the land look as alive as it should instead of the greys it's fond of.

And it plays drinking/eating animations (even if you eat it in your inventory instead)
So it just feels more immersive. You'd be surprised how fun it is to pound bottles of vodka at 3:00 am in Sanctuary then throw them on the ground with a satisfying shatter, only to chase Mama Murphy down and push her down the stairs while laughing
but i digress lolol - it also plays animations for taking drugs too, incidentally
