Fallout 4

What games have a similar combo of survival, crafting and settlement building that this game does?
What the title says. I have been really in the base building mood but I also want to have survival/resource gathering aspects. Especially if it's realistic with stuff like managing food and water and played as a first person shooter even though the game doesn't have to be a FPS. Tired of Fallout 4 and how much of a (in my opinion) flop it is. Looking for something that has the same aspects it has. Making settlements for NPCs and gathering stuff to make more settlements.

Minecraft then? (only modestly kidding)

I mean, without knowing why you DIDN'T enjoy Fo4 it's a bit tough to say 'this would be great'. everyone's got their preferences! I have dumped ungodly time into this game, but I have yet to side with the Brotherhood or do any amount of survival mode. It would just be Not Fun for me.

Actually planning on starting a modded minecraft world with the friends soon haha. And I just don't like it because i've already played the crap out of it with mods. Just looking for something similar.
For more of the post apocalypse open worlds, I'd check out any of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games (there are 2 spin-offs with a true sequel slated for this year), They're more FPS survival without building.

Chernobylite has resource gathering and some base building aspects (though locked to a single area).

The Elex games are 3rd person rpgs set in a post-apocalypse sci-fi world.

Hmm, i've played all the STALKER's and beat all but the most recent one. I will look into Chernobylite. I've heard of that but thought it was more like Metro 2033 with just ammo gathering as you move through levels. I saw Elex and don't think i'll be a big fan. Thanks for the info!

That's what I'm currently playing. I have a long history with minecraft. It's a wonderful game.

I like towny servers with hardcore economy. Found one a few days ago and started once again. It hits me periodically.. Minecraft is love and life ;)

btw you didnt like the game i suggested it seems.. the frostpunk. I havent played it yet but i watched a twitch stream from a streamer i like.. and it looks too cool.

I highly recommend it..
Including food and water? Empyrion Galactic Survival, 7 Days To Die (but they are screwing up their water management when A21 comes out), The Long Dark, No Man's Sky maybe in Survival mode, not sure, I usually play it in Normal mode.

Aside from settlement building, Far Sky, Planet Nomads, Space Engineers (though their planets have only ice, no water, kinda dumb), Stranded Deep, StarsOne, Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero.

Doesn't look like it has either first person or lone wander, stuck managing other NPC's.

I don't like Nomanssky's survival mode. Everything drains too quickly and that makes the game more.. annoying, i dont like doing mining for my basic needs all day.

And the long dark, i just like its story mode. Never liked those challenges and stuff. I wrote it once at steam forum and fans hit me too hard.. they lynched me ;)

thing is; i feel too lonely in that mode. no one to talk to, no story.. no one to show your collections. I'm more social person than the game assumes i guess..

I'll write these down and take a look at them. Thank you, can't wait!

No Man's Sky has settlements with NPCs . I'm not interested in such things so I don't know exactly how they work. Have a look at this https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Planetary_Settlement

Hmmm, I've played No Man's Sky and it was too wonky to me. Planets were repetitive with not much new on each one and it was game breakingly buggy.

Frostpunk is more of a city building thing that I'm not too into unless it's on a smaller scale like Rimworld, Going Medieval ETC.

Chernobylite has a mechanic where you can go on runs to an area and explore it for resources. It feels more like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. than Metro. You also get helper characters you can assign to things.
