Fallout 4 adding radiation from console (informative)
So, I was looking for how to add rads to the player from the console because the mod Workshop Plus removes all the rads from the player character when you go into workshop mode, and I found a partial solution in the Fallout New Vegas forum here on Steam. The updated code snippet below is to give the player character 40 radiation damage that can be healed as normal in Fallout 4:
player.damageav rads 40
Hopefully this helps someone else that look for it, especially if the pull request to fix rads damage being persistent through the Workshop Plus mod workshop mode isn't merged soon.

The reason to use this as explained in the FO:NV forum was that the modav option basically means you have to revert the rads with another modav command (I haven't actually tested this, but it makes enough sense to me) and obviously the setav or forceav commands are even more draconian in how they operate.

Why exactly do you want to ADD rads? to boost a perk or something? Because it seems like this is some way-out-there-niche need...

If you read the post you would know that the mod "Workshop Plus" removes the rads when you go into workshop mode, which seems a bit cheaty and many people might want to get back to the rads they had before they tried to do some building.

Also, way to go with the Stackoverflow type of comment.

The Unyielding set is why I add rads. At 25% health, my S.P.E.C.I.A.L. is at S 17, P 22, E 7, C22, I 27, A 23, L 21. This can be fun when I never fail a charisma check or the like in conversations. I also enjoy using the set to level up, with all that yummy int. For the most part, this would be one reason to add rads through the console. This console method is much better than having to run around and find some nuclear waste, like I have been until now.

No idea. I am not sure if you could add some rad barrels, maybe? and use the pillar and rug glitches to hide it within something. Just a thought to try.
