Aiming down scopes/sights when in third person makes my character aim in first person.
Can anyone tell my why that's happening and how can i fix it?

Probably because aiming down sights requires you to be first person point of view, otherwise you can't aim down sights...
So it's a feature, not a bug, and I don't understand how you think you could get a "fix" for it.

Aiming in third person usually just made it so a dot appears, while still being in third person and zooming your character in a bit.
What you're saying is that you can only hip fire in TP and not actually focus your shots more.

There are a pile of mods. Assuming you’re not already using one. There are two ways to do mods. The stuff in the game, and nexusmods. Nexusmods has a lot more stuff, but it is more difficult to set up (in that it’s not already part of the game)

Using a scope always switches to first person view. Are you saying that zooming with iron sights is also switching?

It depends on what type of sight the weapon has. If it's something like a reflex sight, you get just some zoom and remain in third-person view.

If it's an actual scope, like a recon scope, you'll always look directly through it since it can involve a level of zoom that wouldn't be practical in a third-person view.

Yeah that's exactly whats happening. Everything goes to First Person.

If it happens even for more basic sights rather than just scope, that is indeed abnormal behaviour for the game.

Are you using any mods that might be responsible?

I am using mods but not ones that change the gameplay, just quality of life mostly and graphical. Yeah it does happen for the basic ones as well.

This never happened to me UNTIL the next-gen update. Aiming while crouching works ok, but standing makes the character disappear and go into first person, albeit with just the reticle and no weapon visible, and moreover has made the camera woobly and unreliable. Very irritating indeed.

Yeah that's exactly what was happening to me too. But due to mods, i haven't played the game yet after the update, so i still don't know if the issue persists.
