Help Fallout 4 stuck at 1280 x 720
Fixed: Sign it the onedrive which I have already removed from my pc but the path still link there.

Long story short I downloaded the game, config my pref.ini in both document folder and in steam game folder iSize to 1920 x 1080 but when I press play the game still stuck at 1280 x 720. I try toggling
bBorderless on/off
bFull Screen on/off
bMaximizeWindow on/off
But to no effect the game still run in 1280

Edit: Well it getting werider and werider the more I try to fix it. I experimenting with different setting turn out fallout 4 just use some kind of "Ghost"pref.ini file because I try changing up bunch of setting but the game still run in the literal same way it did before I change it up (change iSize to very small like 800 x 600 it still run like 1280 x 1080. Change bBorderless actually didn't do anything same with bMaximizeWindow and other stuff)

Edit2: Turn out the "Ghost"pref.ini is the defult the game set when you play it for the first time for some reason fallout 4 seem to like it so much that it refuse to change to anything I change it into

Enter the game folder and open "Fallout4Prefs" then change the values to bTopMostWindow=1
bMaximizeWindow=1
bBorderless=1
bFull Screen=1
iSize H=1080
iSize W = 1920
to me worked to start the game in full screen at that resolution.

game is not reading the file.
or it is, but something is overriding the settings.

rename/move/delete the downloaded Falllout4Prefs.ini file. run the game launcher, set the resolution, save settings then exit. this will tell you if the game launcher has write permission to the
Documents\My Games\Fallout4 folder

is the game created Fallout4Prefs.ini file there with your 1920x1080 settings?

the downloaded prefs file - you downloaded one for your exact graphics card?
or just any old graphics card?

oop forgot a comma there sorry. And I try deleting the ini and regenerate it. Problem still persist. Although curiously the setting regenerated for me look like it generate for my old laptop(grafic set to low 1280 x 720 etc) for some reason

the game is generating a graphics file for your old laptop?
or its probably generating a default resolution.

should be a line in the file with your current graphics card:
sD3DDevice=

I get 1920x1080 with:
iPresentInterval=1
bTopMostWindow=0
bMaximizeWindow=0
bBorderless=1
bFull Screen=1
iSize H=1080
iSize W=1920
sD3DDevice="NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti"

in the launcher, set the resolution to 1920x1080 then exit the launcher then look at the file. this will tell you if the game launcher can write what you input.

no no he's confusing the locations...

dude the one in Fallout 4 is the MASTER ini, that's the default... the one you need to be editing is in your c:\users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Fallout 4\

Do you actually read my comment I said I edit the one in the document file but It still look like it use the defult one for some god forsaken reason.

as an experiment, I went to the steam game folder and changed the master ini to 1600x900.
deleted the prefs file in My Games\Fallout4 and
ran the game. game launcher reads my hardware, and together with the graphics card driver, changes the master ini settings to my screen size 1920x1080.

if we have the same game files. still looks like the game launcher is not reading/writing files on your pc.

maybe your graphics card driver is messed up. delete the driver with DDU or something similar.
reboot. CLEAN install latest driver.
reboot. delete the My Games\fallout4\ fallout4prefs.ini file.
start steam then the game and try setting your resolution.

another thought. your windows account has many settings many of which are set to some default. over time, some may get changed. maybe one of these settings are causing the issue. so create a new local windows account. logout. login with the new account.
stop windows one drive (windows turns it on for new accounts). then start steam then try the game and set your resolution again.
