Go in to sub tab "beds".
Pick some that dont use too many scarce resources ( even sleeping bags will often do)
That early in the game it's a few hundred at most.
Secondly, the workshop menu has labelled submenus.
Reducing the amount of items you'd have to browse to a few dozens.
You wouldn't look for beds in the "power" or "food" categories now, would you?
How do you scarp items?
When in an area with a fucntioning workbench (on PC)
-Push and hold V
-Then highlight item to be scarapped like cars, mailboxes streetlights (those have some rare goodies in them like copper!)
- As you scrap stuff it shows up in your workbench ready to use to build new stuff.
It figures a robot with nothing to do for 200 years had maintened sanctuary with all intact roofs and half the houses even have furniture such as bed.
(the other half had their furniture cannibalized by Codsworth tryin to mkaintain at least some houses as original.
Players house looks worse for wear inside and out but everything roof+ furnituure is still there.
I know thats not really answering the mail to the OPs question but I love that mod and want to plug it here:

The root cellar in sanctuary has concrete building blocks you can scrap. Look around in Sanctuary at houses walls, there are the same building blocks sometimes reinforcing a wall, sometimes just lying around. Many cooking stations have them around the campfire.
