Sim Settlements 2 modlist
I'm about to start a new game (first modded run) and the new sim settlements 2 mod has caught my eye. I want a more hardcore experience this time around.

What other mods do you kind folks suggest that you either know or expect would work with SS2?

Read the information on ss2's pages to make sure. They will have a list (probably incomplete) of known conflicts so avoid those. SS2 is just a settlement mod, if you're "hard core" ... that's kind of the opposite. It makes a lot more easily done as far as I know, (why I don't use it, because i like doing those things myself), if you mean you want a more difficult game then I'd suggest things like the snappy housekit and some other building mods that are quite a bit more complicated.

By "hard core", I just mean that I'm looking for a more difficult experience when I"m not doing the settlement stuff.

I highly advise going light on the mods with SS2, especially if they got scripts or world edits (ie Concord makeover, Beantwon Interiors, etc)

You want to do simple things like clothing mods, body swaps, etc no problem because those have no scripting.

Trying to cram mods in like "We are the Minutemen" or Commonwealth at War" is going to create a lagfest brick of your save late game.

The best thign to do, make a lsit of all the mdos you want to use, then go ask in the SS2 if anyone has has problem with those mods previously.

I mean, you could concentrate on those other mods, because you can easily just *ignore* the settlements if what you WANT to do is run around with stories or shooting stuff instead.

Two issues We are the Minutemen and Commonwealth at War have issues with SS2 due to those mods changed it's structure over time.
There are way better mods then those two.
Anyone using them I recommend removing those 2 mods and look for the better ones.
Not even worth my time to fix them to play nicely with SS2 too much of a pain.
Awhile ago I used to fix them to play nice but that was 2 years ago. Time has changed.
